We're looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our growing Civil Projects team to support in the projects based across Napier and Hawkes Bay, delivering the good work we are known for.

This role is not for a specific project but for a place in our team. The role will at times involve direct project delivery, ensuring the smooth running of the day to day activities and programme across projects such as:

  • Bridges and complex structural work

  • Wastewater treatment plants, Pump stations and complex pipelines

  • Heavy Civil, reinforced concrete projects

Fulton Hogan’s Civil Structures team build some of the most interesting Civil projects - Our projects are technically challenging and incredibly rewarding. There is a lot of opportunity for the right person!

In addition to the above you will:

  • Manage the teams and sub-contractors within your area and coordinate with other teams to ensure optimisation of resources and efficiency

  • Plan the execution of the works and develop construction methodology for all elements of the works

  • Provide a monthly forecast of cost to complete to the commercial manager, and an estimate of the work completed in terms of percentages complete to the planner

  • Provide technical advice and resolve on-site issues as they arise

  • Maintain a safe and tidy site, assisting in the development of management systems and ensuring compliance within your team

  • Monitor expenses, process invoices, and contribute to financial reporting.

  • Undertake regular inspections to ensure that safety, environmental, and quality standards are achieved across the projects

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at NZQF Level 7 or above.

  • Around 5+ years’ experience in structures or heavy civil construction.

  • Proven experience across projects such as bridges, treatment plants, pipelines or similar complex infrastructure ($10M+)

  • Strong capability in programming, budget management and cost control.

  • Confident leadership, clear communication and a collaborative, team-focused approach.

  • Ideally locally based or willing to relocate for the oppourtunity
