About The Project:

John Holland’s Infrastructure division is currently constructing some of Australia’s most complex projects.

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Senior Project Engineer for a Wastewater and Class A Recycled Water Treatment Plant project north of Craigieburn. The project is undergoing an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase that involves the development of a reference design to approximately 50% maturity and submission of pricing to progress to the subsequent detailed design and construction (D&C) phase of the project.

Your Role:

Main role responsibilities will shift as project progressed from ECI to D&C:

During the ECI, main responsibilities are to:

  • Work with design consultants and provide critical review of design outputs, considering practicality, constructability and cost efficiency
  • Manage any on-site investigation works as required for design development
  • Manage procurement of mechanical installation, and mechanical / process equipment packages based on design outputs
  • Develop work methodologies and programme for site installation and construction works
  • Coordinate with engineers from other disciplines (electrical, civil, structural) to ensure alignment in overall project delivery
  • Work with Estimating team to assemble mechanical portion of pricing submission for subsequent stage of project

During the D&C phase, main responsibilities are to:

  • Lead mechanical project engineering team, consisting of Project Engineers, Site Engineers and Graduates. Coordinate their activities, programme workloads and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved
  • Direct responsibility for cost and time control of for the mechanical portion of project.
  • Manage procurement of mechanical installation, and mechanical / process equipment packages for execution on site.
  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary.
  • Coordinate and participate in construction planning with other disciplines
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of construction work.

About You:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years + Mechanical experience
  • Strong experience in water or wastewater treatment plant design, construction or commissioning
  • 7-10+ years' postgraduate experience, ideally in a tier one contractor setting
  • Leadership ability to provide mentorship to direct reports
  • Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress, cost and risk
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety
