Job Description

The Industrial Automation Senior Project Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing engineering aspects of W-Industries’ industrial and energy proposals and projects. This role ensures that proposals and project designs, technical specifications, and deliverables meet client requirements, safety standards, and regulatory codes. The Senior Project Engineer collaborates closely with project managers, technical teams, and clients to provide technical leadership and ensure successful project execution from start to finish.

  • Understand client requirements and needs, transforming challenges into technical solutions, defining SOW and technical definitions, along with all needed details and an execution plan to be included in Technical Proposals.
  • Prepare technical and commercial proposals.
  • Develop, review, and approve engineering designs, calculations, and technical documentation for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Provide technical leadership on projects, ensuring engineering solutions are constructible, cost-effective, and meet design intent.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
  • Actively work on specified engineering activities in a hands-on manner as needed, in accordance with the strategy for that specific Project.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop work plans, resource allocations, and schedules.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to ensure designs are implemented correctly and efficiently.
  • Lead design review meetings, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting solutions for complex issues.
  • Identify opportunities for design improvements and value engineering to optimize performance and reduce costs.
  • Mentor junior engineers, reviewing work, providing feedback, and fostering technical development.
  • Support commissioning and testing, ensuring systems operate according to specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with safety standards, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control system engineering, including VFD, robotics, and Vision Systems.
  • Strong proficiency in engineering software (Including but not limited to AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN, Studio 5000, TIA Portal, or equivalent).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and verify technical drawings, schematics, and vendor specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical priorities and provide accurate solutions under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, engineers, and field personnel.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, safety codes, and best engineering practices.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills for guiding project teams and junior engineers.
  • Understanding of project lifecycle, from conceptual design to construction and commissioning.

Required Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering or related discipline. (This is a Must)
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in project engineering for industrial, energy, or automation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering deliverables and multi-discipline projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
