Position Purpose:

Designs pipelines, pump stations, pressure reducing stations, and other water system facilities. Leads as project manager for water system additions and modifications working closely with company personnel in accomplishing successful project delivery. Participates in and actively contributes to short and long-term system planning as assigned. Actively participates in supporting and achieving all Engineering department and corporate metrics and goals as appropriate. Effectively manages consultants and contractors for project delivery. Effectively manages project budgets. Engages local agencies to support the successful completion of projects.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Designs pipelines, pump stations, pressure reducing stations, and other water system facilities.
  • Leads as project manager for water system additions and modifications working closely with company personnel in overseeing construction and accomplishing successful project delivery.
  • Participates in and actively contributes to short and long-term system planning as assigned.
  • Conducts analyses and assists with projection studies to assure capacity for adequate service.
  • Actively participates in supporting and achieving all Engineering department and corporate metrics and goals as appropriate.
  • Effectively manages consultants and contractors for project delivery.
  • Monitors/prepares capital expenditure authorizations for assigned projects
  • Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates, and regulatory submissions for assigned projects.
  • Performs ongoing assessment of project risk/opportunities and follows through with project close-out activities and documentation.
  • Assesses system needs in relation to IDEQ regulations, capacity requirements, and growth projections, and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Works with local agencies such as IDEQ and ACHD for successful completion and permitting of projects.
  • Serves as a contact for customers explaining technical information, project progress, and new initiatives.
  • Provides weekly and monthly reports to management regarding the status of capital projects and issues affecting project performance. Develop and propose solutions to correct project performance deficiencies.
  • Reviews design by others to ensure conformance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Performs all job responsibilities and duties in compliance with all safety, health, environmental, and security laws, rules, policies, programs and training.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or associated field.
  • Advanced Engineering and/or Business degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in civil engineering environment.
  • 7 years of experience in water/wastewater or public works environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of water/wastewater treatment process, pump stations, and tank design and operation.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction techniques and procedures.
  • Proven success in project management and delivery experience.
  • 2 years of experience in the use of AutoCAD desired but not required.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling desired but not required.
  • Experience in managing water and wastewater infrastructure new and replacement projects.
  • Experience in managing and adhering to project budgets and schedules and reporting project costs.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Possess broad knowledge of multiple processes disciplines, augmented with good experience and seasoning, to the point where they can address the most complex projects or address the most complex challenges, such as leading a response to an emergency. May propose capital projects or identify other work that will benefit Veolia and/or a customer, based on their expertise in one or more areas.

  • Ability to function in the digital world, using computer, laptop, tablet, smart phone devices and software to communicate and perform and record work.
  • Financial analysis skills, including budget management and basic accounting knowledge.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD for water pipeline and water facility designs preferred
  • Pump station design, hydraulic and water system analysis experience a plus.
  • Experience with site specific public water system rules and regulations a plus.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Professional Engineer's License required (ability to obtain state specific PE license within 6-months).
