What’s on offer?

Our Infrastructure Services business is now seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead the dynamic Major Projects team based in Eight Mile Plains, Brisbane, Queensland.

Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will see you play a crucial part in developing and delivering complex and high calibre road and airport infrastructure projects, on time, within budget and to a high standard of safety and quality. You will build on strong key stakeholder relationships within both the government and private sectors, and you will be empowered to lead and develop a team of Project and Site Engineers to ensure successful project delivery within a safety-first culture.

This position will require some local and regional state travel and/or night shift as per individual project requirements.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Project management and reporting including safety, programming/scheduling, contractual administration, procurement, and technical aspects.
  • Providing cost forecasts against budgets to understand cost to complete and report to senior management on performance.
  • Overseeing and managing sub-contractors’ delivery including evaluations and negotiation of claims and variations, while providing recommendations to the Project Manager and Construction Manager.
  • Complete risk assessments and audit site operations to ensure procedures and processes are followed.
  • Lead a team of engineers driving a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Overall accountability for the successful delivery of all aspects of the projects for the department.

How will you connect to the role?

  • You will possess a Degree in Civil Engineering with proven experience in civil/infrastructure construction projects and pavement construction. TMR experience will be an advantage but not essential. Experience in Airfield or Defence industry projects will be highly regarded.
  • Hold registration as a RPEQ or meet the criteria to achieve RPEQ in the future.
  • Your ability to manage multiple packages of work at once and to identify and address issues before they arise will set you up for success.
  • Your analytical ability in cost control, reviewing monthly project forecasts and interrogating forecasting costs to complete as required, will also be crucial to your delivery.
  • Your capability in maintaining positive client relationships and ensuring contractual obligations are met will lead to positive outcomes for the department.
  • A valid driver's licence is essential for this position.
