Job Description

  • Coordinate the successful delivery of Auckland’s Combined Plan programme
  • Permanent, full-time role with flexible working and based in Central Auckland   
  • Salary will be $78,500 to $92,000 plus KiwiSaver contribution

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the development of the Combined Plan for Auckland and the ongoing business planning for the Planning and Resource Consents department here at Auckland Council.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 40 hours a week in the Planning and Resource Consents department. The role directly supports the General Manager and the Planning and Resource Consents lead team through:

  • Work programme updates and reporting
  • Timesheet reporting
  • Managing the departments risk register
  • Supporting the lead team with monthly business planning reporting requirements

In addition, the role provides project management support to deliver the Combined Plan across the Auckland Council Group in consultation with the Combined Plan Steering Group and under the guidance of the Programme Manager – Combined Plan. The Combined Plan for Auckland is a regulatory planning document under the Planning Act and Natural Environment Act.

He kōrero mōu: About you

We are seeking someone with the following capabilities:

  • An appropriate university degree or relevant proven experience (resource management, environmental sciences, communications, events)
  • 5 years’ experience working in a complex organisation
  • Project management accreditation
  • 5+ years’ project management experience within public policy or statutory Resource Management Act planning
  • Proven ability to support delivery of complex projects or change processes within a political environment
  • Presentation skills for six weekly management reporting
  • Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Ideally experience in project management software and systems
  • Develop and maintain effective networks across people leaders and finance to ensure appropriate team members are fully appraised on relevant issues
  • Maintain consistent programme systems and tools, including templates
  • Monitor that consistent systems and tools are being utilised and coach staff where necessary in their use
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process and systems improvement
