Pembina Pipeline Corporation is actively hiring a Senior Project Advisor to join the Calgary Office team. This position will report to the Director, Project Governance in the Internal Audit Unit of the Financial Services Division.


The Senior Project Advisor serves as a technical leader within a specialized team of project management professionals. This individual is responsible for developing and nurturing partnerships with project teams, support networks, and key decision-makers. The Advisor guides projects and programs through each stage of the project delivery and governance lifecycle, ensuring that best practices are upheld throughout. By conducting assurance reviews, the Senior Project Advisor proactively identifies and mitigates potential project risks and confirms the readiness of projects to move forward, ultimately supporting successful delivery outcomes.


This position is for a highly accomplished project management professional with progressive experience in both engineering and leadership. The career background should include planning, execution, and start‑up of large‑scale engineering projects and programs—largely within the energy industry—alongside exposure to business development, design and fabrication, contract management, operations, and asset management. The successful candidate is a recognized subject matter expert and trusted advisor with a demonstrated interest in coaching and mentoring.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

    • Demonstrate technical leadership with thorough understanding and application of relevant corporate policies and industry standards of practice;
    • Coach, mentor, and support project teams using expert-level knowledge of project and program management best practices;
    • Provide a governance, risk, and compliance perspective to project teams and decision-makers;
    • Identify and promote continuous improvement and value-creating opportunities;
    • Facilitate project-related workshops (e.g., opportunity framing, business and engineering alignment, cost and schedule risk assessments, lessons learned);
    • Conduct project and program assurance reviews and readiness assessments;
    • Enable risk-based project and program decision-making;
    • Champion project and program lessons-learned and lookback activities;
    • Demonstrate learning agility—seek feedback, rapidly absorb new information, pivot based on evidence, and embed lessons into practice; and
    • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

    • Undergraduate degree in Engineering (Chemical or Process preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience; eligible (or able to become eligible) for professional registration in Alberta and British Columbia;
    • PMP and PMI PMO-CP are considered assets; comparable credentials or demonstrated mastery of PMO practices are equally valued;
    • Formal business education (e.g., MBA, graduate certificate, or relevant coursework) is an asset;
    • Significant experience delivering energy infrastructure projects across the full lifecycle (from concept and front-end design through detailed engineering, execution, commissioning, and turnover);
    • Broad industrial project engineering background—experience in one or more of: gas processing; petrochemical; pipelines; LNG/LPG export terminals; power generation; turnarounds (depth in select areas is valued; we don’t expect all);
    • Applies project, program, and portfolio management principles pragmatically, tailoring frameworks and tools to context to achieve outcomes;
    • Demonstrated leadership in coaching and mentoring project and program teams;
    • Continuous improvement mindset with a fit‑for‑purpose approach—balancing rigor and agility;
    • Exposure to adjacent functions such as business development, commercial services, operations, and asset management;
    • Performance‑driven and self‑motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments; and
    • Translates technical and commercial content into concise, actionable messages for leaders and teams.

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
