In this role, you’ll oversee job cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and construction draw processes for assigned land development projects. Working closely with project teams, lenders, and external partners, you’ll provide accurate financial insights, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and help drive the successful execution of high-quality communities. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Serve as the primary accounting contact for assigned land development projects, overseeing all financial activity, ensuring alignment with company goals, and reporting standards
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive job cost records
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly financial statements for land projects and related entities, providing variance analysis and actionable insights to management
  • Lead preparation and processing of construction draw requests; coordinate with lenders, joint venture partners, and community development districts (CDDs) to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • As assigned, prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Review and authorize purchase orders and contract setups, validating alignment with project budgets, reimbursement structures, and government or district requirements
  • Collaborate with land managers and project leadership to develop, monitor, and update project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow schedules
  • Prepare detailed supporting documentation for annual audits and serve as the point of contact for external auditors on land-related matters
  • Provide oversight for journal entries, check requests, deposits, and other financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established procedures
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within land accounting operations and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • General ledger experience, knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and their proper application to business transactions
  • Highly detail-oriented with good organizational skills
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive data with discretion

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • General sedentary work requiring the use of office equipment such as computers, copiers, printers, scanners and telephones
  • Position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, grasping, writing, typing, repetitive motions, hearing ability, visual acuity, and climbing stairs on occasion
  • May occasionally lift and move up to 30 pounds
