Job Description

Location: Plymouth, Devon

Compensation: Competitive + Benefits

Role Type: Full time / Permanent

Role ID: SF68124

Lead transformation at the heart of UK defence infrastructure

At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as Senior Programme Manager for the Integrated Logistics Hub (ILH) that will support our Devonport Royal Dockyard site.

The role

As a Senior Programme Manager, you'll play a pivotal leadership role in shaping future capability, capacity and resilience across one of Europe's most strategically important defence sites. This is a rare opportunity to lead a complex, high-profile programme that will deliver lasting operational and business benefits whilst supporting critical national infrastructure.

This is not a traditional programme management role focused solely on plans, schedules and reporting. We are looking for a senior leader who is accountable for programme outcomes, integration, governance, change adoption, commercial performance and successful delivery.

  • Lead the delivery of a major programme from set‑up through to benefits realisation and closure. Leading programmes relating to building construction and / or logistics transformation is desirable.
  • Shape programme vision, blueprint and delivery strategy, ensuring alignment across wider portfolios.
  • Manage risks, issues, dependencies, budgets and reporting at programme level.
  • Engage and influence senior leaders, delivery partners and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and coordinated activity.
  • Drive continuous improvement, embedding best practice in programme and project management.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard

Essential experience of the Programme Manager

  • Proven experience operating as a Senior Programme Manager within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience leading multiple integrated workstreams and managing significant stakeholder complexity.
  • Strong governance, commercial, financial and risk management capabilities.
  • Ability to influence, challenge and engage senior stakeholders to achieve successful programme outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of programme and project management methodologies such as MSP, PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent.

Qualifications for the Programme Manager

  • MSP or recent experience operating in a similar programme leadership context.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held. Further details are available at United Kingdom Security Vetting: clearance levels - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
