New York University’s Center on International Cooperation (CIC) has built a reputation over two decades for its work on the links between politics,
security, and sustainable development. CIC co-founded and hosts the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies. The Pathfinders is a group
of UN member states, international organizations, global partnerships, civil society, and private sector actors working to accelerate the delivery of the
SDG targets for peace, justice and inclusion (SDG16+).
The Pathfinders for Justice Program was created to implement the recommendations set out by the Task Force on Justice in the Justice for All report.
The program implements the agenda for action at the international level, promotes measurable improvements in justice in countries from all regions and
income groups, and brings justice partners together behind a new movement for closing the justice gap. Central priorities are to strengthen political and
financial support for people-centered justice and build networks for action at the national, regional, and global level. Our work aims to address systemic
injustices and long-standing inequalities, as well as individual justice problems disproportionately faced by communities that are marginalized.
About the role
CIC is seeking two Senior Program Officers to support its work on the Pathfinders for Justice program. This post is for Senior Program Officer
International Partnerships, who will strengthen and further develop the Justice Alliance, a docking station and partnership hub for international and
thematic organizations working to support the implementation of SDG16.3.
The senior program officers will be part of the justice team within the Pathfinders and will work under supervision of the Program Lead, Justice for All.
The senior program officer will:
Provide data-driven and evidence-based policy analysis and thought leadership on people-centered justice, under strategic direction of the Program
Lead, and make significant and constructive independent contributions to the Justice for All program.
Contribute to research and writing to disseminate findings of the Justice for All report, to further develop and operationalize the agenda, to influence
implementation of the recommendations, and collaborating with external researchers or organizations contracted.
Design, develop and finalize publications on Justice for All and people-centered justice and proactive communication about the program’s work
through blogs, social media, and other channels.
Present strategies, ideas and findings on Justice for All and people-centered justice in meetings with partners and other external interlocutors and at
events and conferences.
Special focus on international partnerships:
Strengthen and further develop the Justice Alliance to maximize its ability to help deliver measurable increases in justice, developing relations with
existing and new justice partners, especially from the global south.
Based on the shared strategy for justice for all, reach informal agreements with core partners on their priorities and areas where they can contribute
based on their comparative advantage.
Identify and take forward avenues of collaboration between Pathfinders and large multilateral organizations such as the World Bank, UNDP, the
European Union and IDLO and work with them to strengthen the contribution of their programs to justice outcomes for people.
Work with partners to reshape the justice sector at the global level so that it can support transformational change through smarter financing
strategies, better use of evidence and data, a greater commitment to innovation, and increased learning between countries.
Other tasks:
Work closely with the Program Lead to manage grants and donor relations, contribute substantially to annual planning process, budgeting and grant
reporting.
Maintain effective communications with counterparts, including but not limited to the UN, international organizations, foundations, other partner
organizations, justice innovators, business leaders, and campaigners.
Complete other tasks as required.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $114,000.00 - $134,000.00 New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
