Carpenter Co. has an opening for a Senior Program Manager at our corporate office in Richmond, Virginia This position is responsible for leading and delivering complex, multi-phase technology projects across the organization.

As the successful candidate, you will be managing cross-functional engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application teams to ensure successful delivery of technical solutions.
Your additional responsibilities as Senior Program Manager will include:

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead multiple concurrent technical projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget, high‑quality delivery.
  • Define project scope, objectives, requirements, KPIs, and success metrics.
  • Drive comprehensive project plans including schedules, resource allocation, risk management, and change control.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements, working closely with engineering and architecture teams.

Technical Oversight

  • Partner with technical leads, analysts, and engineers to understand solution design, system dependencies, and integration points.
  • Ensure projects adhere to enterprise architecture, security standards, and infrastructure best practices.
  • Supports SAP projects, including upgrades and integrations.
  • Support troubleshooting and decision-making for risks, or constraints.

Stakeholder & Communication Management

  • Serve as the a point of contact between business owners, IT leadership, project teams, and external vendors, as appropriate.
  • Provide clear and concise executive-level reporting.
  • Facilitate project meetings, , technical reviews, and cross-team coordination.

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

  • Proactively identify risks and issues; develop and execute mitigation strategies.
  • Manage complex multi-team dependencies across applications, platforms, security, and infrastructure.
  • Lead project retrospectives and incorporate lessons learned into future work.

Process & Methodology

  • Promote best practices in project management, including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall when appropriate.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes, documentation standards, and team workflows.
Skills / Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience managing IT projects with increasing responsibility.
  • Prior experience with SAP and system upgrades, preferred.
  • Proven experience managing complex technical initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of modern technologies such as cloud and application development.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Certifications such as PMP, PgMP, preferred
  • Experience in enterprise-scale environments or regulated industries.
