Job Description

The Opportunity

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position.

As a Senior Program Finance Analyst, you will support program delivery by executing end-to-end project accounting for both R&D and customer-funded programs. You will deliver accurate internal and customer reporting, robust analysis and maintain effective control of program financial performance throughout the contract lifecycle, aligning with organisational financial rhythms and controls.

This role is ideally suited to a candidate with project accounting experience within Defence, engineering or government contracting sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting, including analysis of cost allocations, actuals, forecasts, and variances.
  • Review program cost allocations and ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and associated assumptions through engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Provide clear analysis, explanations, and recommended corrective actions for financial and reporting variances.
  • Manage and reconcile OSEC reporting (Orders, Sales, EBIT and Cash), including booking orders and backlog reconciliation.
  • Support customer invoicing preparation, debtor management, and cash flow tracking.
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready records and ensure compliance with financial controls, contract requirements, accounting standards, internal policies and procedures and Defence cost principles.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting as required.
  • Forecast and track ROS% performance, including the assessment and incorporation of adjustments.
  • Review pricing proposals and estimates, ensuring appropriate financial assumptions and methodologies are applied.
  • Apply an understanding of Defence Cost Principles and CASG Profit Principles.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders on finance matters and contribute to the development of solutions for moderately complex issues

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience in program/project finance, management accounting, or commercial finance environments.
  • CA or CPA qualified, or currently undertaking professional accounting studies.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and financial variances.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver accurate outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Proven ability to adapt to changing business needs while maintaining a flexible and proactive approach.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and support effective corrective actions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to develop efficient and repeatable reporting tools to support Project Managers and the Finance team.
