The Opportunity

Build the Future with Us

Within WSP’s Resources sector, our geochemistry teams support mining clients across Canada and internationally by delivering high‑quality characterization, modelling, and environmental solutions. Our work helps clients make informed decisions throughout the mine life cycle while meeting regulatory expectations and advancing responsible resource development.

As a Senior Geochemist based in Montréal, you will lead and deliver geochemistry projects, act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, and mentor junior professionals while collaborating with multidisciplinary and sometimes international project teams.

Your Impact

  • Lead and review scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for mining geochemistry projects.
  • Develop and oversee project plans, evaluation approaches, and technical deliverables.
  • Design, plan, and supervise field programs focused on geochemical characterization of mining materials.
  • Analyze, interpret, and quality‑control measured and modelled geochemical data.
  • Develop, calibrate, and validate geochemical and water quality models.
  • Integrate geochemical results into large‑scale environmental assessments and management plans for acid rock drainage and metal leaching.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Maintain strong client relationships while promoting a proactive health and safety culture.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • University degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., geochemistry, geology, earth sciences).
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental geochemistry, preferably in consulting and/or the mining industry.
  • Professional designation in Québec ( OGQ or OIQ) or eligibility for Québec recognition.
  • Demonstrated expertise in acid mine drainage, metal leaching, and geochemical evaluation of mining materials.
  • Proven experience in geochemical sampling design, data interpretation, and modelling using industry‑standard software (e.g., GoldSim, PhreeqC, MIN3P, CE‑QUAL‑W2, GWB).
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and mentoring skills, with the ability to work in diverse and multidisciplinary teams.
