Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the leadership and oversight of assigned plant production processes, production teams and the areas that support those efforts. Product quality is an essential component of the scope of the role.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):

  • Interact as a member of the Plant Lead Team in developing strategic vision and action plans
  • Coach and lead managers/coaches and staff personnel in teamwork and constant improvement initiatives
  • Oversee and ensure an efficient and cost-effective flow of product through the production system achieving financial results as outlined in the Annual Operating Plan
  • Delivers performance consistent with Annual Operating Plan objectives; assists in developing AOP
  • Plans department operations: establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products to meet schedule requirements
  • Ensures compliance with standard operational work practices: including E1 requirements to maintain accurate inventory levels
  • Provide the leadership to develop and maintain a safe workplace
  • Enforces quality standards; ensures product meets specifications
  • Maintains the product quality system for the plant, insuring compliance with all requirements
  • Evaluates and implements processes to improve on site production goals and initiatives.
  • Directs plant schedule to guarantee on time delivery to customers
  • Recommends hiring and approves discipline for production staff
  • Delivers effective/interactive communications and activities to support positive morale
  • Leads performance management processes
  • Interacts with and supports Production Managers of other plants in their efforts towards improvement and standardization
  • Coaches and guides other functional areas in the plant in their efforts to support the production systems
  • Works closely with the Materials, Interplant and Traffic Managers to ensure the quality and delivery of the product meet internal and external customer expectations

SCOPE & IMPACT:

This position directs the manufacturing activities comprising 20% - 50% of the Residential Division. Responsible for assembling furniture that secures customer satisfaction and repeat business. Manages, develops and executes an Annual Operating Plan which significantly influences the financial success of the Division.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations or related field with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or equivalent 3-5 years of supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Proven leadership track record leading large organizations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing type environment as a leader or project manager over labor intensive, large volume operations.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, ISO 9000:2000, Ergonomics, Advanced Maintenance Systems, Kaizen Events, VSM and Six Sigma.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software; expertise with enterprise systems.
  • Experience utilizing OEE, project management.
  • Ability to collaborate with other leaders effectively both, internally at the plant in addition to leaders at other sites.
  • Experience with team environment.
  • Solid understanding of Materials Management and Quality Systems.
  • Advanced understanding of financial systems and operational metrics.
  • Travel Required: Up to 10%.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with Oracle E1 enterprise system

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 5 Manager level direct reports; indirect reports include Coach/Supervision employees and up to 1,400 hourly team members – Direct/indirect reports varies between sites.
