This position is based in Uppsala, where Thermo Fisher Scientific develops, manufactures, and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. In this role, you will contribute to the production flow of over 500 highly regulated allergy assays, supporting diagnostics that impact patients worldwide. As a Sr Production Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will optimize production processes, implement new technologies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient manufacture of high-quality products while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
The role is part of the Solid Phase production team, one of five teams within the Uppsala Production organization, and you will report directly to the Director, Manufacturing Solid Phase.
You will manage process improvement projects, provide technical expertise for new product introductions, develop and validate manufacturing processes, and implement automation solutions. Working closely with R&D, Quality, Production, and other functions, you will optimize existing processes while ensuring consistent product quality and regulatory compliance.
Your analytical skills and engineering expertise will contribute to cost reductions, improved efficiencies, and enhanced manufacturing capabilities across our operations.
Requirements:
• Advanced Degree plus 5 years of experience preferred, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience preferred in manufacturing engineering in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, medical device, or similar)
• Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial or related field)
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications beneficial
• Knowledge and experience of Lean tools and work is very benefical
• Knowledge of GMP, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements
• Expertise in process validation, equipment qualification, and change control management
• Experience with automation systems, PLCs, and manufacturing control systems
• Project management skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive and own tasks / initiatives / projects
• Demonstrated success implementing process improvements and cost reduction initiatives
• Experience with CAD software and manufacturing documentation systems
• Problem-solving abilities together with risk assessment methodologies and root cause analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic manufacturing environment
• Experience supporting engineers and technicians
• Good skills in Microsoft Office suite and relevant engineering software
• Must be able to work in cleanroom environments when required
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong ability to talk, write and communicate in Swedish is strongly required
