Overview

WildBrain Studios is looking for a Senior Production Accountant (Feature) to join our team!

Reporting to the Manager of Production Accounting, this role partners closely with the Producer, Line Producer, Head of Production, and the Studio Production Finance team to support accurate budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and compliance with studio policies.

You’ll draw on your accounting expertise, production knowledge, and strong analytical skills to manage priorities effectively and communicate clearly with cross‑functional teams—helping ensure our projects remain on track, on budget, and fully supported.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare internal and external cost reports for a large-scale, animated feature film.
  • Present budget updates and variances during meetings with external partners.
  • Monitor departmental spending and labor utilization in real time using studio production finance tools (e.g., proprietary systems, SmartAccounting).
  • Collaborate with the Producer, Line Producer and Head of Production to maintain accurate cost details, schedules, and staffing plans.
  • Own financial reporting across the production lifecycle, including:
    • Estimate to Complete (EFC) and variance analyses
    • Budget vs. actual reconciliations
    • Cash flow and headcount projections
    • Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end forecasting and reporting
  • Track and reconcile vendor costs, including animation partners, editorial vendors, and independent contractors
  • Partner with Payroll and HR to resolve payroll issues and adjustments
  • Code accounts payable and contractor invoices; maintain accurate cost allocation
  • Complete guild and union remittances (e.g., UBCP, WGA, WGC, CMPA, IATSE)
  • Analyze estimated production tax credits.
  • Prepare and file tax credit accreditation applications for Production Services Tax Credits.
  • Assist with year‑end filings and production audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership and producers.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 7–10+ years of production accounting experience in animated features, VFX‑heavy films, or large‑scale episodic animation.
  • Proven track record of owning financials on complex, high-budget productions from greenlight through delivery
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of BC and Ontario production service tax credits.
  • Experience working with industry unions (e.g., IATSE).
  • Advanced proficiency with production accounting software (SmartAccounting or proprietary studio systems).
  • Expert Excel skills and strong financial modeling capabilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with creative and technical teams.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical ability.
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong adaptability and resilience in a dynamic production setting


Why WildBrain

Pay Range:

$90,000 - $120,000CAD annually, based on a 40-hour work week.

Candidates are paid within the range posted, but their exact pay will vary based on the level, responsibilities and expectations of the role. We also take into consideration the experience and skills that individual brings, with consideration of our internal equity.
