About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Product Safety expert for our global assortment of reusable intimate hygiene underwear. The role is responsible for providing advice, support and assess better, safe and environmentally sound products in all innovation and product lifecycle activities for textile absorbent underwear for menstrual use and incontinence management. The role is further responsible to actively build, develop, maintain and defend product safety procedures, positions and information for internal and external use.

This role is based in Gothenburg and reports to the Global Product Safety Manager.

What You Will Do

  • Be the expert resource on product safety, chemistry and textile chemistry for reusable textile hygiene products and other textile-based products.
  • Perform risk assessments and/or supporting toxicological evaluations in connection with collecting and evaluating supplier data, external certificates and coordinating tests and analyses.
  • Provide product safety support, procedures, guidelines and requirements to the organization.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor relevant product safety legislation and regulatory developments, and translate these into updated product safety requirements, guidelines and ways of working within Essity.
  • Support innovation and procurement by steering suppliers towards the expected safety standards.
  • Be updated on market competition as well as external trends that influence our goals and the product safety.
  • Drive and/or proactively participate in internal and external competence transfers and networks.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Science, Chemistry, or a related field. An MSc or PhD is considered a strong advantage.
  • Good knowledge of chemistry, textiles, textile chemistry, dyeing/finishing processes either through your studies or through work experience.
  • Proven and solid experience from a textile-related role.
  • Good knowledge of product safety and risk assessments of textile materials/products with experience successfully applying this knowledge in an international environment.
  • Knowledge of how to convert chemical legislation into requirements for hygiene, healthcare, and consumer products.
  • Ideally, but not a prerequisite, you have knowledge and bring experience from working with fast-moving consumer products, combined with an angle to respect regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working with OEKO-TEX or other relevant third-party certifications is considered an advantage.
  • Experience working with SAP is considered an advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Fluent in English, verbal and written
