
Purpose of the role
To manage and develop existing and new products and/or services; and where applicable, ownership of related customer and colleague journeys, develops the product strategy, drive change through Barclays execution teams, make key decisions in the product lifecycle and own associated outcomes for customers, colleagues and the bank, achieved through appropriate service level agreements, regulatory compliance, risk management and controls.

As a Senior Product and Proposition Manager - Business Banking Portfolio Management (Commercial Optimisation, Affordability & Lifecycle Strategy), you will take on a key leadership role with responsibility for managing and developing a growing team.
The team’s purpose is to manage and develop the Business Banking lending portfolio across product, sectors and segment, by optimising the appetite for risk designing frameworks, strategies, and decisioning tools that support consistent, high‑quality credit decisions. As part of the First Line of Defence, the team owns and evolves these strategies to support sustainable, responsible growth. You will take ownership of activities transitioning from the second line into our first line team, ensuring a smooth handover and embedding new responsibilities effectively.
To be successful as a Senior Product and Proposition Manager – Business Banking Portfolio Management (Commercial Optimisation, Affordability & Lifecycle Strategy), you should have experience with:
Credit strategy & optimisation: Designing and delivering data-led credit strategies across approval, pricing, limits and segmentation to optimise risk appetite, growth and portfolio returns.
Affordability & lifecycle management: Developing and calibrating affordability frameworks and lifecycle strategies, using performance data to refine decisioning and ensure alignment with risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
Advanced analytics & collaboration: Leading data-driven insight generation (SAS, SQL, Python where applicable) and partnering with stakeholders across Portfolio, Risk and Transformation teams to translate analytics into actionable credit changes.
