
Purpose of the role
To manage and develop existing and new products and/or services; and where applicable, ownership of related customer and colleague journeys, develops the product strategy, drive change through Barclays execution teams, make key decisions in the product lifecycle and own associated outcomes for customers, colleagues and the bank, achieved through appropriate service level agreements, regulatory compliance, risk management and controls.

As a Senior Product and Proposition Manager - Business Banking Portfolio Management, you will take on a key leadership role with responsibility for managing and developing a growing team.
The team’s purpose is to manage and develop the Business Banking lending portfolio across product, sectors and segment, by optimising the appetite for risk designing frameworks, strategies, and decisioning tools that support consistent, high‑quality credit decisions. As part of the First Line of Defence, the team owns and evolves these strategies to support sustainable, responsible growth. You will take ownership of activities transitioning from the second line into our first line team, ensuring a smooth handover and embedding new responsibilities effectively.
To be successful as a Senior Product and Proposition Manager - Business Banking Portfolio Management, you should have experience with:
Risk & Controls expertise: Assess risks across products, processes, and platforms; identify control weaknesses; ensure adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and evolving regulatory standards.
Governance, reporting & continuous improvement: Document control assessments, produce insight‑driven reports for stakeholders, and support effective governance, procedure management, and enterprise frameworks.
Collaboration & Data Skills: Work with stakeholders across the bank to enhance control effectiveness, using data literacy - and optionally coding skills (SaaS, SQL, Python) - to analyse, interpret and inform improvements.
