What will you do?

A day in the life of a Senior Product Owner, eCommerce at VF looks a little like this.

The Senior Product Owner – eCommerce will lead product ownership responsibilities across a portfolio of retail brands. This role is responsible for driving execution, alignment, and delivery across the eCommerce product ecosystem, ensuring teams deliver scalable, customer-centric solutions that support both business objectives and seamless digital experiences.

The Senior Product Owner – eCommerce will serve as the accountable Product Owner across multiple product areas, eCommerce initiatives and platforms, partnering closely with engineering, UX, analytics, merchandising, marketing, operations, and brand stakeholders to translate strategic priorities into actionable product backlogs, clearly defined requirements, and measurable outcomes. This role plays a critical part in connecting business strategy with agile delivery execution across product search, merchandising, checkout, order management, loyalty, promotions, and omnichannel capabilities.

The ideal candidate brings expertise in eCommerce product ownership within the retail industry, a strong understanding of agile product delivery practices, and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple brands, business units, and stakeholder groups. You are highly collaborative, execution-focused, and skilled at balancing customer needs, operational considerations, and commercial objectives to deliver impactful digital commerce experiences at scale.

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

  • Manage the product backlog and delivery priorities across eCommerce product areas and capabilities for a portfolio of retail brands, including checkout, promotions, search, customer accounts, order management, fulfillment, and omnichannel experiences — ensuring alignment with business goals, customer needs, and enterprise priorities.
  • Translate strategic initiatives and business objectives into clearly defined user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized epics, balancing customer impact, commercial value, technical dependencies, operational considerations, and brand-specific requirements across multiple brands and regions.
  • Lead day-to-day Agile product ownership activities in close partnership with engineering, UX, QA, analytics, and business stakeholders — facilitating backlog refinement, sprint planning, dependency management, release readiness, and delivery execution to ensure high-quality, timely outcomes.
  • Champion customer-centric digital commerce experiences by identifying pain points and optimization opportunities across web, mobile, and omnichannel journeys, helping drive seamless and consistent experiences across browsing, purchasing, fulfillment, returns, loyalty, and customer engagement touchpoints.
  • Serve as the liaison across cross-functional teams, partnering with merchandising, marketing, operations, customer service, fulfillment, and technology stakeholders to ensure product capabilities effectively support key retail and eCommerce business processes.
  • Assist in driving alignment and prioritization across multiple brands and stakeholder groups by establishing structured intake, backlog governance, and roadmap planning processes that support both shared platform scalability and brand-level business objectives.
  • Partner closely with engineering and architecture teams to support solution discovery, dependency management, technical refinement, and delivery sequencing, ensuring scalable and sustainable execution across the eCommerce ecosystem.
  • Support data-driven product decision making by defining and monitoring KPIs related to customer engagement, conversion, checkout performance, fulfillment experience, feature adoption, and operational efficiency — leveraging analytics and customer insights to continuously optimize product outcomes.
  • Coordinate cross-platform and omnichannel release activities across web, mobile applications, and integrated retail systems, ensuring features, enhancements, and customer experience improvements are delivered in a synchronized and business-ready manner.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication and transparency through backlog reviews, sprint demos, release updates, roadmap discussions, and cross-functional working sessions — translating business needs into actionable delivery plans and communicating progress, risks, and tradeoffs effectively.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, platform partners, and internal shared services teams to support platform enhancements, integrations, and ongoing capability evolution across the digital commerce landscape.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, Agile best practices, experimentation, and innovation by identifying process optimization opportunities and staying informed on evolving trends in eCommerce, retail technology, omnichannel capabilities, and customer experience.
