We are seeking a highly technical, execution-driven Senior Product Owner to lead our customer’s BESS product lines & Data Platform product portfolio.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between strategic product vision, energy storage domain expertise, advanced analytics, and software engineering execution.
You will not simply manage a backlog; you will drive the development and delivery of intelligent battery optimization capabilities, operational analytics platforms, fleet intelligence solutions, and data-driven software products that maximize the value of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of energy storage technologies, software platforms, controls systems, cloud-based data solutions, and Agile product delivery. Equally important are your leadership capabilities, including stakeholder management, roadmap prioritization, cross-functional collaboration, and translating complex technical concepts into customer and business value.
This role will work closely with Product Management, System Intelligence, Controls Engineering, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Services, and Customer Success teams to deliver market-leading BESS product line’s capabilities and scalable data platform solutions
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. BESS product lines’ Product Strategy & Intelligent Controls
Serve as the product leader for BESS product line’s initiatives focused on improving battery performance, lifecycle optimization, operational efficiency, and customer value.
Partner with Product Managers and System Intelligence teams to identify and prioritize intelligent control features and software-enabled value propositions.
Drive product direction for advanced energy optimization capabilities, including:
State-of-Health informed controls
Fleet performance optimization
Battery lifecycle management
Energy availability optimization
Operational intelligence solutions
Data-driven automation and decision support systems
Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends within energy storage, battery management, system intelligence, and renewable energy software ecosystems.
2. Product Lifecycle Ownership & Technical Execution
Convert business capabilities, design studies, and validated BESS product line concepts into implementation-ready product requirements and engineering workstreams.
Author and manage epics, features, and user stories that support software delivery teams responsible for BESS solutions.
Act as the primary bridge between System Intelligence teams, domain experts, and software implementation teams.
Support engineering teams throughout the complete product lifecycle, including:
Requirements definition
Solution design
Development planning
Feature implementation
Validation and testing
Release readiness
Production deployment
Ensure delivered solutions align with approved business objectives, design intent, and customer outcomes.
3. Data Platform Strategy & Analytics Enablement
Own product requirements for enterprise-scale operational data platforms supporting global BESS fleets.
Define capabilities for data ingestion, telemetry collection, data processing, analytics, reporting, visualization, and machine learning enablement.
Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to establish scalable, secure, and reliable data architectures.
Drive initiatives focused on:
Fleet intelligence
Predictive analytics
Operational health monitoring
Asset performance management
Customer-facing insights and reporting
Ensure data platform roadmaps support scalability, cybersecurity, observability, data governance, and long-term product sustainability.
4. Product Vision & Backlog Management (Agile Execution)
Own, prioritize, and maintain the BESS product lines’ and Data Platform product backlog.
Translate strategic business priorities into detailed epics, features, stories, and acceptance criteria.
Lead Agile ceremonies including:
PI Planning
Sprint Planning
Backlog Refinement
Sprint Reviews
Release Planning
Define clear Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done (DoD) for all product deliverables.
Manage dependencies across software, controls, analytics, and platform teams.
Balance new feature development, technical debt reduction, system modernization, and platform reliability initiatives.
Ensure engineering teams maintain a healthy, prioritized, and continuously refined backlog.
5. Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Leadership
Act as the primary interface between Product Management, System Intelligence, Controls Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Services, and executive leadership.
Facilitate product discovery sessions, roadmap reviews, business requirement workshops, and technical prioritization discussions.
Translate highly technical concepts into meaningful business narratives suitable for senior leadership and customer-facing audiences.
Drive alignment across globally distributed teams while balancing competing priorities and delivery objectives.
Foster strong collaboration between software engineers, battery experts, data scientists, solution architects, and business stakeholders.
6. Business Value Realization & Product Success
Define and monitor KPIs measuring product adoption, operational impact, platform performance, and customer success.
Establish measurable outcomes for BESS product lines and analytics solutions.
Support business case development and value realization initiatives.
Use customer feedback, operational insights, and data analytics to continuously improve products and services.
Ensure delivered capabilities contribute to improved battery performance, enhanced reliability, operational efficiency, and differentiated customer value.

Technical Expertise & Experience
Energy Storage & BESS
Strong experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Battery Management Systems (BMS), or renewable energy technologies.
Understanding of battery performance characteristics, degradation mechanisms, operational optimization, and lifecycle management.
Familiarity with battery controls, dispatch strategies, state-of-charge management, and grid-connected energy systems.
Controls, Analytics & System Intelligence
Experience working with operational analytics, optimization algorithms, AI/ML-enabled systems, digital twins, or advanced monitoring solutions.
Understanding of telemetry systems, system intelligence platforms, and performance analytics frameworks.
Ability to collaborate effectively with controls engineers, battery experts, and data scientists.
Data Platform & Cloud Technologies
Experience with cloud-native platforms and large-scale operational data ecosystems.
Understanding of:
Data ingestion pipelines
Streaming and batch processing architectures
API integrations
Data lakes and warehouses
Analytics and visualization platforms
Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Software Product Development
Proven experience leading software products through Agile development lifecycles.
Hands-on experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or equivalent Agile toolsets.
Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and engineering deliverables.
Leadership & Soft Skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
8 - 12 years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Software Delivery, or Energy Technology domains.
Experience working in renewable energy, energy storage, utilities, industrial IoT, grid technologies, or industrial automation industries.
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), SAFe POPM, or equivalent Agile certification.
Experience with AI/ML applications, predictive analytics, digital twins, optimization engines, or advanced energy market software solutions.
Prior experience working with global and geographically distributed engineering organizations.
