Maviance PLC as a digital financial services provider that develops, operates and grows a technological platform that focuses on increasing and facilitating access to digital financial services (including bill & payment aggregation, retail payments, agent banking, corporate & bulk payments) to people, companies and government entities of all income level across Cameroon.

Maviance PLC is engaging in its expansion phase in Cameroon and within the CEMAC (Central African) region with the goal of establishing the company as the #1 leading player in the Fintech and Digital Financial space.

We are looking for a Senior Product Owner who will be responsible for translating business strategy, customer needs, regulatory requirements, and technical realities into a clear, prioritized product backlog and delivery roadmap across Maviance digital products, including mobile applications, web platforms, and API-based services.

This role acts as the senior bridge between Product Management, Engineering, Compliance, Operations, Customer Support, commercial stakeholders, and external partners. The Senior Product Owner defines the “what” and “why” at backlog and initiative level, ensures requirements are ready for delivery, and helps teams make value-based trade-offs.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Vision

• Define and own the multi-year product vision across:

• Mobile app

• Web application

• API & integration platform

• Translate company strategy into product OKRs.

• Prioritize initiatives based on:

• Business value

• Customer impact
• Regulatory implications
• Technical feasibility
• Balance innovation with operational stability.

Roadmap, Backlog & Delivery Ownership

• Own and maintain a single, transparent, prioritized product backlog aligned to the approved roadmap.

• Ensure alignment across multiple customer segments.

• Manage trade-offs between:

• Customer-facing features

• Platform scalability

• Regulatory requirements

• Technical debt reduction

• Prevent mid-sprint priority churn.

• Ensure backlog items are well-defined, estimated, sequenced, and ready before sprint planning.

• Translate roadmap initiatives into epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, release scopes, and measurable outcomes.

Agile Leadership & Squad Enablement

• Provide day-to-day product direction to agile squads and coach Product Owners/ Business Analysts where applicable.

• Standardize backlog structure and Definition of Ready.

• Ensure product requirements are outcome driven.

• Support capability building, feedback, and development planning for Product Owners or analysts without replacing line management accountability unless formally assigned.

• Improve PO maturity and autonomy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Head of Technology and Operations, Engineering teams, Compliance and Risk teams, Customer Support etc

• Identify cross-squad dependencies early.

• Align release planning across mobile, web, and API channels.

• Ensure engineering is not blocked by ambiguity.

Customer & Market Intelligence

• Define customer segmentation strategies.

• Analyze product usage, adoption, conversion, reliability, and support metrics to identify improvement opportunities.

• Drive feature validation through data.

• Conduct stakeholder and partner feedback loops.

• Monitor competitor landscapes in the fintech ecosystem.

Regulatory & Risk Alignment

• Ensure product decisions consider:

• Transaction integrity

• Data security

• Compliance obligations

• Audit traceability

• Work closely with compliance to mitigate regulatory exposure.

• Balance growth ambitions with risk governance, operational controls, and customer protection.

• Ensure auditability of product decisions, acceptance criteria, approval of workflows, and release evidence for regulated products.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

MUST: Have a Technical Background with Excellent command of English & French Language: Reading, Writing, Speaking.

• BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• At least 4+ years of experience in a comparable role in a fast-growing/scale-up environment where you have worked on a variety of projects. Ideally in a role within our industry
• Proven experience as Business Analyst /Product Owner in the fintech or startup space
• Strong understanding of agile principles, values, and frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, etc) with the ability to apply them effectively in various contexts.
• Solid knowledge of product management practices, including gathering requirements, prioritizing features, and defining product roadmaps.
• Mastery of the software development life cycle.
• Solid project management skills including project monitoring and reporting.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and facilitate open communication within the team and with stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product lifecycle.
• Exceptional organizational and leadership abilities.
• Strong problem-solving aptitude and creative thinking skills.
• Nice to have:
• Certified Product Owner (CSPO) or similar agile certifications.
• Background in software development and program/Project management
• Strong knowledge of customer payments and data needs
