We are leading the industry's green transition, enabling our partners to leverage data for actionable decarbonisation efforts.
Senior Product Manager - Vessel Reporting at ZeroNorth
Vessels report on their operations every day - tracking position, performance, fuel consumption, and voyage conditions. This data serves multiple masters: shore teams rely on it for operational oversight and commercial claims, and regulators increasingly require it for emissions reporting across various international and regional frameworks. Before any of it can power anything, it needs to be complete, accurate, and trusted. That's the problem space this role owns.
Reporting to the Director of Product, you will lead the product strategy and day-to-day execution for one of our most business-critical domains. The work spans two distinct layers: the end-user facing experience for ship masters and shore-based operators, and the platform layer at the heart of every ZeroNorth product.
You'll work closely with a dedicated engineering team, design, and cross-functional stakeholders. Because vessel reporting is the data foundation for the entire platform, multiple teams depend on the accuracy and completeness of what you own, and bring requirements your way. A significant part of the role is managing those dependencies well: capturing requirements from partner teams, anticipating downstream impact before it becomes a problem, ensuring nothing breaks for consumers of this data, and sequencing changes so the whole platform stays coherent and releases land smoothly for end users.
This role is about more than just keeping data flowing. It carries a bigger question: what should the next generation of vessel reporting look like in an AI-first world, where the experience for ship masters is seamless, intelligent, and requires as little manual effort as possible. You'll have real ownership over the answer - leading the product discovery and delivery process from idea to launch, working directly with end users, collaborating with stakeholders, and staying focused on what moves the needle.
Key responsibilities:
Product strategy and roadmap for vessel data capture and reporting workflows, including noon reports, arrival/departure events, and bunker reporting
The end-to-end vessel reporting lifecycle, from onboarding and setup through to continuous, high-quality reporting, reducing time-to-value and the manual effort currently carried by both vessels and shore teams. When this works well, customers trust the platform and everything downstream becomes more valuable
Data quality: where validation happens, how errors are surfaced to ship masters and shore-based operators, and how quality is monitored over time, because downstream products are only as good as the data flowing into them
Translating requirements from commercial, customer success, and downstream product domains into a coherent, sequenced roadmap, and making the hard prioritisation calls when they conflict
NextGen Vessel Reporting: you will help shape and sequence our vision for what vessel reporting looks like in an AI-first world
Your profile:
5+ years in product management, with a strong track record in B2B SaaS and evidence of owning complex, multi-stakeholder domains end to end
Master-level discovery skills. You run structured discovery as a matter of course, not as an occasional exercise. You know how to get to the real problem, not the stated one, and you bring rigour and curiosity in equal measure
Sharp data instincts. You are on top of your metrics at all times, you define success measures before you build, you track them after you ship, and you use them to make the case for what comes next
Deep user empathy. You know your users well enough to anticipate what they need before they ask, built through regular, direct contact with customers and a genuine ability to earn their trust. You are skilled at unravelling the need behind a request, uncovering the common problems beneath individual asks, and ensuring the team is solving the right problems the right way across a complex, diverse customer base
Stakeholder management. You can align commercial, customer success, and engineering around a shared direction, navigate competing priorities to find the right path forward, and communicate tradeoffs clearly to senior audiences
Strong communicator, written and verbal. You write PRDs that engineering teams can act on, and you present to leadership in a way that drives decisions rather than discussions
AI-native working style. This is not optional. You use AI tools as a core part of how you work, to think faster, write better, pressure-test your thinking, and analyse and strategise at scale. You bring that expectation to your team and raise the bar for what's possible
Experience owning products that serve both end users and platform consumers, with the ability to hold both perspectives simultaneously
Technically strong. You can hold a detailed conversation with engineers about data architecture, validation logic, and system dependencies without losing the product perspective
Platform-minded. You think in systems not features, anticipate problems before they surface, and understand that a change in this domain can have consequences across the entire platform
Diplomatic and solution-oriented. You work with teams who have competing priorities and legitimate needs. You know how to listen, synthesise, push back constructively, and land on solutions that work for the many rather than optimising for one dependency at a time
Maritime experience or education is a plus, but not a requirement. What we value is genuine curiosity about how vessels operate and a passion to transform a centuries-old industry
