The purpose of this role is to own the end-to-end product strategy, P&L and commercialisation for HSBC’s Domestic & Emerging Payments portfolio within GPS Australia (CIB), spanning all client segments. The role drives profitable growth and improved client outcomes while ensuring safe, resilient payment services across domestic payment rails and corporate payment solutions, and leads key alliances and industry engagement to support ongoing change and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own portfolio P&L, pricing strategy, forecasts, and investment governance.
  • Define product strategy and roadmap aligned to client, regulatory, and platform needs.
  • Prioritise and translate initiatives into delivery-ready requirements, metrics, and release plans.
  • Lead end-to-end commercialisation, partnering with Sales, Implementation, and Service to drive adoption.
  • Own Austraclear (Corporate) proposition, service model, commercial performance, and change delivery.
  • Manage alliances and ensure robust risk, controls, and regulatory compliance across the product suite.


Key responsibilities

  • Extensive experience in transaction banking/payments product management (ideally CIB), with strong end-to-end knowledge of domestic payments (processing, clearing/settlement, operations and client channels) across multiple client segments.
  • Proven track record owning portfolio financials (revenue, costs, margin), building investment business cases, and defining pricing/commercial strategies (fees, packaging, segmentation and channel economics).
  • Demonstrated ability to set product strategy and roadmap, translate it into delivery-ready requirements (epics/features), and lead complex cross-functional change across Technology and Operations to deliver outcomes at pace.
  • Strong capability in operational resilience and product controls, including fraud/scams and financial crime considerations, with experience driving risk assessments, incident learnings and remediation in partnership with Risk/Compliance.
  • Experience managing alliances/vendors (schemes, clearing partners, processors, gateways) and representing the organisation in industry forums/regulatory engagement, with excellent senior stakeholder communication and governance leadership.
  • Demonstrated expertise in payments, including domestic and emerging payment solutions and experience in market management
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to influence and build alignment across diverse groups
