You ensure that AI is applied responsibly, transparently, and measurably, creating real operational value while maintaining regulatory trust.
This is an advanced individual contributor role within the IT Product Management family, combining:
- End-to-end product ownership
- AI-driven automation strategy execution
- Strong stakeholder leadership in a regulated environment
- Accountability for delivery, adoption, and value realization
Location: Singapore or Cyberjaya, Malaysia
How will you contribute to the success of DHL?
Product Ownership, AI Delivery & Accountability
- Act as the end-to-end Senior Product Manager for AI-enabled Customs Automation capabilities, including intelligent automation workflows, ML-based risk scoring, decision support, analytics, and document classification.
- Own and prioritize the product backlog (epics, features, and user stories), ensuring clear AI problem definitions, feasible data and model requirements, and alignment between business outcomes and technical delivery.
- Drive delivery from concept to production, ensuring solutions are operationally effective, trusted by users, and compliant with customs regulations and internal governance.
- Ensure continuous alignment with enterprise architecture, data governance, security, privacy, and Responsible AI standards.
Responsible AI, Outcomes & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure AI solutions adhere to Responsible AI principles, including transparency and explainability, auditability for customs authorities, bias awareness and mitigation, and robust data and model lifecycle management.
- Define and track AI product success metrics, such as decision accuracy, automation rates against confidence thresholds, exception reduction, and user adoption and trust.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, controlled experimentation, and incremental AI maturity, avoiding high-risk, "big-bang" implementations.
Scope, Budget & AI Delivery Complexity
- Be accountable for a defined subset of the Customs Automation budget (approximately €2-3M Build and €1-2M Run), including AI-related development and operational costs.
- Own delivery across one high-complexity AI or automation capability and two to three medium-complexity AI-enabled products or enhancements.
- Provide functional leadership across matrixed delivery teams, including engineers, solution architects, data engineers, data scientists (where applicable), and AI or automation platform vendors.
- Make informed trade-offs between model sophistication and stability, as well as automation levels and operational or regulatory risk.
- Indirect Reports: ~20 to 30 FTEs from ITS
- Indirect work with more than 3-5 vendors and or channel partners external.
- Own ~2 to 5 IT products which are responsible for Customs Automation & AI including:
- 1 very-high-complexity product
- 2 medium-complexity products
- 2 low-complexity products
- Provide functional leadership within a matrix environment, including the indirect leadership of 20-30 FTEs across ITS and delivery partners, while collaborating with external vendors and channel partners supporting cross-functional customs capabilities.
- Balance scope, cost, risk, and time-to-value across the portfolio, ensuring products deliver measurable business outcomes, including improved operational efficiency, cost savings, enhanced employee productivity, risk reduction, and revenue enablement.
Do you have what it takes?
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Advanced qualifications (e.g., a Master's degree in Technology, AI, Data, Business, or an MBA) are advantageous.
- Formal training or certifications in Product Management, Agile/Scrum, Data & Analytics, or AI fundamentals are beneficial.
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management or Product Ownership, delivering complex digital products across the full product lifecycle, from strategy and roadmap development to delivery, adoption, and value realization.
- Hands-on experience with AI-enabled, data-driven, or intelligent automation solutions, such as decision-support systems, analytics platforms, or ML-assisted workflows.
- Experience working in complex or regulated environments, balancing innovation with operational, risk, and compliance requirements.
- Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with engineering, data, and business stakeholders.
- Proven ability to translate business needs into clear product requirements and prioritize initiatives based on data, outcomes, and business value.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain AI concepts and technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
