ING Open Banking is evolving beyond compliance into a strategic platform that enables ecosystems, new business models, and seamless integration with our partners’ and clients’ systems. As an Open Banking Customer Journey Expert, you will play a pivotal role at the intersection of product strategy and management, platform integrations, and external partnerships.

You are responsible for shaping how ING collaborates with external partners (e.g. PSPs, fintechs, ERP/TMS providers, high-impact partners) while connecting internal business lines across ING verticals (Retail, Business Banking, Wholesale Banking) to the Open Banking platform.

You are accountable for translating ecosystem opportunities and regulatory developments into scalable platform adoption, value creation, and strategic partnerships, ensuring ING’s Open Banking capabilities are positioned as a trusted, compliant, and commercially viable platform in the market.

You will combine deep API and platform knowledge with a strong commercial mindset, enabling ING to expand its Open Banking reach while delivering a frictionless developer and client experience.

You act as a senior product professional who leads complex initiatives end-to-end, and represents ING Open Banking towards internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the Open Banking ecosystem and partnership strategy, aligned with regulatory, technical, and commercial objectives.
• Act as ING’s primary Open Banking contact for external ecosystem partners and strategic alliances.
• Identify, onboard, and scale partnerships that accelerate adoption, ecosystem reach, and monetisation.
• Serve as the main liaison between the Open Banking Platform and ING business lines (Retail, Business, Wholesale).
• Translate business strategy and regulatory requirements into clear platform use cases and integration opportunities
• Design and deliver secure, low‑friction integrations in collaboration with Product, IT, Legal, Risk, and Compliance.
• Lead joint go‑to‑market initiatives that drive sustainable platform usage and long‑term value.
• Track ecosystem performance, define KPIs, and optimise partnership and commercial models using data and market insights.
• Represent ING externally as a product and technical authority on Open Banking APIs, standards, and integration patterns.
• Orchestrate end‑to‑end delivery across Engineering, Architecture, UX, Security, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Commercial teams.

Your background

• You are a senior product professional who combines strategic thinking, technical depth, and strong stakeholder skills.

You bring:

• Senior-level product experience: Extensive experience as a Product Manager or Customer Journey Expert in platforms, APIs, integrations, or ecosystem-driven products.
• Strong product–business mindset: Ability to translate platform and integration choices into clear business outcomes. You can engage confidently with engineers as well as senior business stakeholders.
• Partner-facing and influence skills: Proven experience working with external partners, negotiating scope, priorities, and technical solutions in complex stakeholder environments.
• Deep API and platform expertise: Hands-on knowledge of RESTful APIs, authentication/authorisation (OAuth2), webhooks, and integration patterns. You can critically assess API quality, security, and scalability.
• End-to-end ownership: Comfortable taking accountability from strategy and discovery through delivery, launch, and continuous improvement.
• UX and developer experience focus: A strong belief that even complex Open Banking integrations should feel simple, intuitive, and predictable for developers and clients.
• Relevant domain knowledge (nice to have): Experience with Open Banking, payments, financial services platforms, or regulated ecosystems is a strong advantage.
• Language skills: Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
