Job Description

We are seeking a senior-level Technical Product Manager to play a pivotal role in executing and scaling our CCH Axcess API strategy. This role will serve as the Senior Product Manager for our Tax API development team while also acting as a key API enablement partner to other product teams across the suite and for customers

This position is responsible for translating API strategy into actionable, prioritized work; ensuring high-quality API delivery; and driving consistency, adoption, and measurable outcomes across teams that do not directly report to them. Over time, this role is expected to evolve into broader ownership of the suite-wide API platform product.

The ideal candidate combines strong product judgment, deep technical fluency with APIs, and the ability to lead through influence in a complex, multi-team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Ownership & Delivery

  • Serve as the Technical Product Manager for our tax API development team, owning the backlog from feature definition through delivery.
  • Author, refine, and prioritize epics, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and prioritization activities to ensure the team is consistently working on the highest-value work.

API Strategy Execution & Enablement

  • Translate suite-wide API strategy and standards into executable features and stories for both managed and non-managed development teams.
  • Drive estimation and prioritization efforts for API-related work across multiple product teams.
  • Partner with other product managers to ensure API work is properly scoped, planned, and aligned.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Influence

  • Establish working agreements with non-managed development teams to support consistent API implementation.
  • Act as a trusted partner to Product Management and Engineering leadership by providing clarity, data, and tradeoff analysis.
  • Proactively surface risks, dependencies, and opportunities related to API delivery.

API Consumer Experience & Commercial Enablement

  • Own the API consumer experience for the Tax APIs, including usability, documentation quality, onboarding, and supportability.
  • Heavily influence API consumer experience across the broader suite through feedback, patterns, and shared artifacts.
  • Partner with stakeholders on API entitlements, plans, rate limits, and usage measurement.
  • Support sales enablement and commercial initiatives that help drive awareness and adoption of API capabilities.

Measurement & Outcomes

  • Define and track success metrics for the Tax APIs beyond uptime (e.g., adoption, usage, time-to-first-successful-workflow).
  • Contribute to and influence measurement approaches for APIs across the suite.

Growth & Platform Evolution

  • Serve as a reference point and mentor for API-related product practices across teams.
  • Over time, assume broader ownership of the API platform product as strategy, scope, and organizational needs evolve.

Qualifications

Required

  • Proven experience as a Technical Product Manager or Product Manager working on technical or platform-oriented products.
  • Strong understanding of APIs and distributed systems, including REST, JSON, GraphQL, authentication/authorization (e.g., OAuth 2.0), and API lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including backlog ownership and delivery coordination.
  • Ability to lead through influence and collaborate effectively with teams outside of direct reporting lines.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and systems-thinking skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with API management platforms (e.g., Azure API Management, Tyk, or similar).
  • Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger and API documentation tooling.
  • Experience working in a scaled, multi-product environment.
  • Scrum Technical Product Manager certification or equivalent practical experience.
