Job Description

The Senior Product Manager will contribute to the success of Milliman Advanced Risk Adjusters (MARA) by ensuring we are prioritizing products and solutions that balance customer needs, business priorities, and technical feasibility. This role will identify and implement systems that increase the effectiveness of new model and feature development by driving clarity, focus, and value-informed product decisions.

Who We Are

Independent for over 75 years, Milliman delivers market-leading services and solutions to clients worldwide. Today, we are helping companies take on some of the world’s most critical and complex issues, including retirement funding and healthcare financing, risk management and regulatory compliance, data analytics, and business transformation.

Milliman invests in skills training and career development and gives all employees access to a variety of learning and mentoring opportunities. Our growing number of Milliman Employee Resource Groups (ERG’s) are employee-led communities that influence policy decisions, develop future leaders, and amplify the voices of their constituents. We encourage our employees to give back to their varied professions, including leadership in professional organizations. Please visit our web site ( https://www.milliman.com/en/social-impact) to learn more about Milliman’s commitments to our people, inclusion, and sustainability.

Through a team of professionals ranging from actuaries to clinicians, technology specialists to plan administrators, we offer unparalleled expertise in employee benefits, investment consulting, healthcare, life insurance and financial services, and property and casualty insurance.

What You Will Do

In this role you will support the following initiatives:

Product Discovery & Problem Definition

  • Partner with leadership, sales and marketing, client services, and model development teams to shape product direction and priorities
  • Identify high-value opportunities through customer input, competitive research, data analysis, and internal feedback
  • Work seamlessly with senior management to set OKRs and clear direction
  • Continuously validate assumptions through lightweight discovery (internal interviews, prototypes, data exploration)
  • Gain a deep understanding of our competitive landscape, users, and markets (health plans, providers, internal stakeholders)

Product Development & Delivery

  • Define, articulate and maintain the product roadmap
  • Manage the product backlog and sprints
  • Translate product opportunities / OKRs into clear, actionable work for MARA’s product team to execute
  • Partner closely with model development (R&D and data scientists) and engineers to shape solutions (not just hand off requirements)
  • Prioritize work based on value, impact, feasibility, and strategic alignment
  • Drive high-quality product decisions through collaboration, not top-down direction
  • Remove impediments by being the go-to source for engineer product/backlog questions and ensure downtime due to engineer uncertainty is minimal
  • Participate in testing, validation, and iteration of product outputs

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with leadership to serve as a bridge between customer needs and product development
  • Engage with clients (through Client Services and Sales and Marketing) to understand needs, pain points, and feedback
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into clear, usable product value
  • Ensure internal teams understand the “why” behind product decisions
  • Help shape messaging, positioning, and go-to-market support in partnership with leadership
  • Contribute to staff growth and upskilling through group and one-on-one interactions

Product Quality & Usability

  • Advocate for simple, intuitive, and high-quality product experiences
  • Identify gaps in usability, documentation, or workflows and drive improvements
  • Partner with product teams and client services to reduce friction for clients in how MARA is accessed and updated through various versions.

Process Improvement & Product Infrastructure

  • Introduce and refine product management processes that improve clarity and execution
  • Teach the concepts of effective product management to team members who aren’t familiar with it yet
  • Help establish prototype / lightweight product discovery and prioritization approaches
  • Use AI tools to accelerate research, synthesis, documentation, and decision-making
  • Continuously evaluate and improve how we build, test, and deliver product enhancements
  • Remain open and closely connected with senior leadership
  • Identify and resolve small but persistent product and communication gaps
  • Clarify ambiguous requests before they reach product development teams
  • Act as a utility player who improves alignment across product, R&D, development, and client services
  • Do the “five-minute favors”

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, analytics, or a related field (healthcare experience strongly preferred but not required)
  • Foundational knowledge of product management methodologies and software
  • Value-driven and outcome-oriented
  • Deep curiosity about users, systems, and how things work
  • Exceptional communication: able to simplify complex ideas clearly
  • High service orientation: cares about internal and external customer outcomes, not just product features
  • Comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams
  • Bias toward action with thoughtful judgment
  • Low ego / high ownership mindset

Individual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future.
