Azure SQL Managed Instance is our customer's first choice service for migrating & modernizing existing SQL Server instances from on-premises data centers to the cloud. Thousands of customers have easily migrated their apps to this service and got not only the benefits of automated database management (patching, backups, high-availability, security)but also opportunity to modernize these applications instantly by leveragingcutting-edgecapabilities of Azure (integrated data platform, analytics and AI).

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager (technical product owner) who would work closely with our engineering team to define and build new product experiences and capabilities offered in Microsoft cloud services As part of our product development cycle, we do detailedmarket and competitive research, meet clients, design new software features, develop and preview them with end-users iteratively and evangelize the new features to the world.

The cycle is similar to those used by most Silicon Valley startups, additionally boosted by the advantages that Microsoft has, as a company with a global reach.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of Microsoft’s as well as competitive products.
  • Identifyinguser’s pain points that currently exist and creating a vision and strategy on how to make our users more productive with the technology we develop.
  • Creating the functional design of a new software product, or new features in existing products. Aligning functionality with complementary Microsoft products.
  • Tracking how users respond to new features and validate progress towards the set goals. Managing relationships with key users of our services as well as Microsoft sales and partners.
  • Liaising between the development team and the rest of the world – the customers, the user experience designers, support team, etc.

Qualifications

  • Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of product management experience in software products (experience in Enterprise segment is a plus)
  • Eagerness to continuously learn and improve personal skills and adapt to dynamic working environments in an agile manner.
  • Passion for technology and strong empathy with customers
  • Solid technical understanding of relational database systems, and practical experience with at least one RDBMS.
  • Solid system design and problem-solving skills and experience in architecture/design/implementation and delivery of great user experiences.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (can be as an end user).
  • Good communication and cross team collaboration skills
  • Effective and fluent communication (in English).
