As an Engineer I – Monitoring Platform, you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop, test, and support software that powers ADT's monitoring ecosystem. You will contribute to microservices, APIs, cloud-native applications, and web experiences while gaining hands-on experience with modern engineering practices, distributed systems, and real-world production environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Software Development
Develop and maintain software features under the guidance of senior engineers.
Build and support backend services, APIs, and web applications.
Participate in the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of new platform capabilities.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects.
Contribute to microservices developed using NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScript.
Assist with REST API implementation and integration efforts.
Support event-driven and asynchronous processing workflows.
Learn and apply software design patterns and engineering best practices.
Develop and maintain React-based user interfaces.
Build responsive and accessible UI components.
Work closely with Product and UX teams to implement new features.
Support integration between frontend applications and backend services.
Assist with database schema updates and migrations.
Work with PostgreSQL and Google Cloud Spanner databases.
Support cloud-native applications running on Google Cloud Platform.
Participate in deployment, monitoring, and operational support activities.
Write unit and integration tests.
Participate in code reviews and team technical discussions.
Work closely with Product Management, DevOps, QA, SecOps, and IT teams.
Continuously learn new technologies, tools, and engineering practices.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical education/training.
No professional software engineering experience required.
Academic project, internship, co-op, bootcamp project, personal project, or open-source contribution preferred but not required.
Knowledge of object-oriented programming and modern software development fundamentals.
Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript.
Understanding of basic web and API concepts.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to Node.js, React, or modern web development frameworks.
Experience with academic or personal projects involving cloud technologies.
Familiarity with Git and Agile software development practices.
Understanding of REST APIs and database fundamentals.
Interest in cloud-native systems, distributed systems, and modern software engineering practices.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools is a plus.
