Moog is hiring a Senior Electronics Product Engineer in our Military Aircraft Group for an onsite position in East Aurora, NY. As a Senior Electronics Product Engineer, you will provide support for Aircraft electronics programs in the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase through the mature production phase of the Product Life Cycle. Additionally, as a senior team member, you will have the opportunity to mentor other team members. Primary areas of responsibility include supporting production assembly and test areas by resolving issues, maintaining product integrity, and influencing product cost.
Reporting directly to the Electronics Product Engineering Manager, the Senior Electronics Product Engineer provides engineering support to specific product lines which can be more complex in nature. Also, taking responsibility in providing technical guidance working collaboratively in a team environment to support the Assembly and Test operations, as well as working independently or taking a leadership role for special projects within the group. In some circumstances the Product Engineer can take a leadership role for special projects.
This role offers a first shift on-site schedule at our East Aurora, NY Location.
The Senior Electronics Product Engineer supports all phases of the product life cycle including development, new product introduction (NPI), product transfer and product delivery by:
Assuring and maintaining product integrity, quality and on-time delivery of production products. You will do this by collaborating with and mentoring other Moog personnel, resolving production problems, monitoring first pass yield (FPY), non-conformances, performing Material Review Board (MRB) analyses, and assisting in evaluation for possible notice of escape to customers.
Identify areas for producibility and quality improvements in product design and initiate these changes and planning for schedule impacts.
Support the facilitation of design changes by redlining drawings, attending Change Review Board (CRB) and starting the ECN process.
Establish tasks and schedules for Product Engineering on team-based projects.
Initiating clear production assembly/test instructions and providing training to operations personnel to maintain efficient production. These instructions include formal Work Instructions, Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP / PAT), engineering memos, and Electronic Historical Record (EHR) entries.
Provide timely information to all affected operating groups regarding potential problems with quality, schedule and cost.
Tracking key company metrics including, but not limited to first pass yield, and product cost objectives to maintain and improve our performance and goals.
Coordinating and interfacing with internal/external customers and/or suppliers to maintain design integrity, producibility and quality in products.
Lead Root Cause Corrective Action analyses and projects that ensure long-term solutions to prevent recurring problems.
Function as the customer/vendor contact for all technical questions.
Maintain close contact with Moog Program Management to insure “no surprises” when talking to their customers.
Provide mentorship to less experienced team members
To be considered for Senior Product Engineer role, here's what you'll typically need to bring with you:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, 8 years of experience preferred
Electronics knowledge from the product level down to the circuit and component levels – circuit analysis and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of electronics test and measurement equipment
Knowledge of printed circuit board assembly processes
Have self-starting instincts, solid analytical skills, and a strong sense of ownership for responsible products.
Have good communication skills and the ability to collaborate at all levels of an organization, including working with technicians, customers and/or suppliers/sub-contract suppliers.
Ability to work onsite in East Aurora, NY on a regular basis (remote candidates will not be considered).
The ability to travel, sometimes on short notice, to customers, contract manufacturers, suppliers, etc., to support the product line - 10 – 15% of the year.
