Job Description

Senior Product development Scientist – (1 year FTC/Secondment opportunity)

Location: Swindon

; Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week (Onsite)

As a key member of the Innovation team, the Senior Product Development Scientist will lead and deliver innovation projects focused on advancing the Zydis dosage form. You will contribute to the creation of new Zydis platforms, drive continuous improvement of existing technologies, and support strategic initiatives including university partnerships and platform development programs.

The Role:

  • Execute a range of experimental methods, protocols, and literature or patent reviews.
  • Design and implement new processes incorporating emerging and innovative technologies.
  • Contribute to project, program, and platform milestones with a solutions‑focused approach.
  • Analyse and interpret scientific data to provide clear technical conclusions.
  • Present findings to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct studies to confirm and optimise innovative technologies that significantly improve process efficiency.
  • Proactively identify technical challenges and independently develop effective solutions.
  • Stay informed on evolving technologies and explore opportunities to apply them to Catalent products.
  • Work collaboratively within cross‑functional and matrix teams.
  • Develop knowledge of EU and US regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Support the delivery of technological platform projects with external partners.
  • Lead and participate in risk assessments to build robust product control strategies.
  • Provide support to other functional areas as needed.
  • Uphold Catalent’s values by maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by your Line Manager.

The Candidate:

  • Degree in pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, or a related field, with relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of current and emerging trends in formulation and process technologies.
  • Hands-on experience designing, planning, and managing experimental work.
  • Demonstrated experience executing proof‑of‑concept studies for both new and existing technologies.
  • Ability to present innovative ideas and technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
