Join our Home Respiratory Support Ideation team and help create the next generation of intelligent respiratory therapies for people receiving care at home.

About the opportunity

This role sits at the intersection of physics, physiology, data science, and medical device development. We are looking for a curious, intellectually rigorous engineer or scientist who enjoys understanding complex systems and solving challenging real-world problems from first principles.

You will explore new ideas, develop advanced sensing, physiological modelling, estimation, and control technologies, and translate promising concepts into products that improve patient outcomes. Working in a highly multidisciplinary environment, you will combine analytical thinking, experimentation, and innovation to tackle problems where uncertainty, noisy data, and human physiology meet.

What You'll Work On

  • Develop physiological, mathematical, and system models for respiratory therapy and patient monitoring
  • Design estimation, inference, and signal-processing algorithms for noisy and uncertain real-world data
  • Develop methods to infer patient physiological state from sensor measurements
  • Evaluate and integrate novel sensing technologies
  • Design and conduct experiments, simulations, and feasibility studies
  • Collaborate across engineering and clinical disciplines to integrate new concepts into working devices
  • Influence technical direction across innovation and product development programmes
  • Generate evidence and documentation to support product development and regulatory requirements

About you

Essential

  • Master's degree, PhD, or equivalent experience in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Science, Medical Physics, or a related discipline, together with 3–5 years of relevant industry, commercial R&D, or applied research experience outside academia.
  • Strong grounding in modelling, sensing, signal processing, estimation, control, machine learning, or related analytical disciplines
  • Expertise in the development, application, or evaluation of sensing technologies
  • Strong capability with MATLAB, Python, or similar technical computing tools
  • Ability to combine first-principles thinking with practical experimentation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience in medical devices, physiological systems, or technically complex R&D environments would be advantageous.
