About the opportunity

The team is focused on improving our humidification products and customer experience. We work across the product development lifecycle, from identifying customer and clinical needs through to product development and delivery.

Our current work involves understanding clinical challenges and workflows, engaging with end users, investigating opportunities, building prototypes, conducting experiments, and evaluating potential solutions. As projects mature, we continue to support them through detailed development and implementation.

You'll work closely with engineering, clinical, regulatory, quality, manufacturing, and marketing teams to deliver practical solutions that improve patient and customer outcomes. As a senior

engineer, you'll contribute technical leadership, influence project direction, and mentor less experienced engineers.

The team is currently small, providing a unique opportunity to have a meaningful impact on both the direction of projects and the future shape of the team.

Success in this role requires initiative, adaptability, and sound engineering judgement. Projects may range from early-stage investigations and feasibility work through to detailed design and delivery. This role suits someone who enjoys solving complex problems, learning quickly, and contributing across different stages of product development.

What You'll Work On

• Identify and investigate unmet customer and clinical needs through user engagement, observation, and research.
• Translate customer insights into clear problem definitions and engineering opportunities.
• Generate, prototype, and evaluate new product concepts and technologies.
• Plan and conduct technical investigations, experiments, and feasibility studies.
• Analyse data and evidence to inform project decisions and recommend future directions.
• Understand how customer needs, clinical workflows, product design, and manufacturing considerations influence engineering decisions.
• Contribute to product development activities including design refinement, verification, and delivery as projects mature.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to progress ideas from concept through to implementation.
• Lead technical workstreams and contribute to project planning, risk management, and execution.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.
• Generate clear technical documentation to support design decisions, development activities, and regulatory requirements.

About you

We're looking for an experienced engineer who is naturally curious and enjoys solving complex problems. You are comfortable working in a changing environment, can balance attention to detail with the bigger picture, and enjoy collaborating with others to deliver practical engineering outcomes.

You should have

• A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Product Development Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years' experience in product development, medical devices, or a similarly complex engineering environment.
• Strong engineering design, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience planning and executing technical investigations, experiments, and feasibility studies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical work and deliver engineering outcomes.
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and data-driven decision making.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and influence technical decisions.

Beneficial Experience

• Medical device development or experience within a regulated industry.
• Mechanical design and product development.
• Prototype design, fabrication, and testing.
• Product verification and validation.
• Knowledge of healthcare, respiratory care, or humidification products.
• Experience progressing products from concept through to commercialisation.
