JOB PURPOSE

Burberry is looking for an experienced Senior Product Developer to manage the end-to-end development of Outerwear at Burberry, translating creative vision into beautifully executed, commercially considered product. Working closely with Design, Product Engineering and our vendor network, you will bring together technical expertise, craftsmanship and commercial awareness from concept through to pre-production. You will also provide leadership within the team, supporting the development of colleagues and stepping in for senior Product Development leadership when required.

REPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the end-to-end product development process from concept to pre-production, managing the critical path and delivering high-quality prototypes and samples to agreed timelines and margin targets.
  • Partner closely with Design as a technical specialist, contributing during fittings and finding considered solutions that protect creative intent while ensuring product feasibility.
  • Build effective partnerships with vendors, using a strong understanding of capabilities, costs and capacity to secure the right product outcomes.
  • Apply strong technical outerwear expertise across product types, considering construction, performance, testing, functionality and consistency throughout development.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering and cross-functional partners to identify and resolve risks, prepare products for production and ensure they meet relevant testing and quality requirements.
  • Lead and support the Product Development Assistant, while contributing to wider team leadership and maintaining accurate, timely product information within PLM.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Strong technical knowledge of outerwear and related product categories, with an understanding of construction, performance, testing and functionality.
  • Experience partnering with Design teams and translating creative direction into technically achievable, high-quality product.
  • Proven ability to manage vendor and factory relationships, providing clear briefs and navigating cost, quality, capacity and aesthetic considerations.
  • Skilled in critical path management, with the ability to anticipate risks, prioritise effectively and guide collections through development to agreed deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and experience balancing product cost and margin considerations with creativity, quality and customer expectations.
  • Clear and collaborative communication skills, with experience working across functions and using product-development systems such as PLM; working knowledge of Excel and InDesign is beneficial.

About Burberry

Born from innovation, Burberry is a global luxury brand with a rich British heritage.

Founded in 1856, our brand is underpinned by our founder’s passion for the outdoors. Thomas Burberry invented the innovative rain-ready fabric gabardine to protect explorers from the elements. In doing so, he created the foundation for the iconic Burberry trench coat, which remains core to the business even today.

Guided by our history of exploration and our shared belief that ‘creativity opens spaces’, our purpose is to unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, our customers and our communities.

As a values-driven brand, we are committed to creating the next generation of sustainable luxury and believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to fulfilling our purpose. Fostering an inclusive culture where differences are valued and embraced enables us to be more creative, engaged and make a more meaningful contribution to the world around us.
