nCino is looking for a Senior Product Designer to take ownership of complex product experiences that financial institutions use every day. In this role, you will drive the full design lifecycle for significant product features, from shaping early research questions through execution and post-launch validation. You will partner closely with product managers and engineers to ensure design decisions are grounded in real user needs and aligned with business goals, contribute to the evolution of nCino's design system, and provide mentorship to junior and mid-level designers who are building their craft.

The ideal candidate is equally at home running user research, pressure-testing wireframes, and refining high-fidelity prototypes, and brings the data literacy to measure whether their designs are actually working. You communicate design direction with clarity and confidence, whether you are presenting to a cross-functional team or walking senior stakeholders through a strategic decision. Experience in banking, fintech, or SaaS is a meaningful advantage, and familiarity with Salesforce Lightning Web Components will set you apart. A portfolio with case studies that demonstrate your approach to complex UX challenges is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Communication Excellence: Clearly articulate complex design ideas and strategies to cross-functional teams, executives, and stakeholders. Lead presentations and discussions on design direction.

  • Curiosity and Empathy: Lead research initiatives to deeply understand customer needs. Advocate for users within the product development process and ensure design solutions are informed by real-world insights.

  • Healthy Design Collaboration: Foster collaboration among designers, developers, and product managers. Create an open and iterative design process, welcoming feedback and encouraging contributions from all team members.

  • Real-world Product Design Experience: Take full ownership of the design process for major product features or projects. Lead the evolution and maintenance of design systems, ensuring high standards of consistency and usability.

  • Effective Work Management: Successfully manage multiple complex projects. Prioritize effectively and deliver designs that meet both business goals and user needs.

  • Software Development Literacy: Act as a bridge between design and development, ensuring that designs are feasible and well-integrated into the product development process.

  • Data Literacy: Analyze user data to refine designs and measure their effectiveness. Collaborate with data analysts and product managers to ensure designs are backed by solid insights.

  • Proactive Problem Solving: Lead the design of detailed user journeys, site maps, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes that address complex user needs and business goals.

  • Leadership in UX Standards: Lead interface design critiques and provide strategic, objective feedback to help raise the quality of the team's work.

  • Design Support: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level designers. Present work to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with product and business goals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years experience in product design, user experience, interaction design, or user research

  • Undergraduate Degree in User Experience Design or a strongly related degree or combination education and relevant real world experience

  • Professional experience in a cross-functional team following Agile development practices

  • Proven experience with modern design and research tools

  • A portfolio of your design work and case studies that demonstrate your experience performing the essential functions of this role

Desired:

  • Experience working in Banking or Fintech

  • Experience working in SAAS (Software as a service)

  • E xperience working with Salesforce LWC (Lighting Web Components)

  • Experience designing for agentic or AI-assisted workflows, including how to surface model reasoning, communicate confidence levels, and give users meaningful control over AI-driven outputs

  • Ability to articulate and design human-in-the-loop experiences where AIassistsbut a humanretainsfinal decision authority

  • Familiar with prompt UX patterns, including interfaceswhereusers direct AI through natural language, structured inputs, or hybrid approaches

  • Proficient with AI-assisted design toolfeatures without over-relying on generated output, and capable of evaluating when AI-generated suggestions serve the user and when they do not

The pay range for this role is based on relative market data and alignment with our compensation philosophy. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum of the pay range for each job posting, which is used to determine new hire rates/salaries and takes into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, abilities, proficiencies, experience, education, licensures/certifications, as well as business and organizational needs. nCino reserves the right to modify the posted range consistent with our internal practices and external market movement. The recruiter for this job posting can share more compensation details during the recruitment process, as base salary is only one component of the total compensation package per position posted.

The base salary range for this job is:

$107,900.00 - $183,400.00
