The position will be part of our Aesthetic Research Center, one of Huawei Research Centers committed to enhancing the quality of Huawei products by creating a strong design ecosystem. The Senior Product Designer is responsible for research and future-oriented design exploration for B2B and B2C devices, including consumer electronics such as smartphones, smartwatches, earphones, and smart glasses. This role focuses on trend forecasting, aesthetic and technological research, and conceptual innovation to inform and inspire global product design teams and contribute to the development of forward-looking products.
By investigating emerging materials, evolving user behaviors, and new design languages, this role translates insights into compelling design directions and concept proposals. It ensures that future product visions align with shifting consumer expectations, technological advancements, and broader market dynamics, while providing a strong foundation for innovation across the organization.
· Research emerging technologies, materials, user behaviors, and design trends to identify future opportunities.
· Develop speculative and visionary product concepts exploring new form factors, interactions, and materials.
· Create forward-looking design strategies, concepts, and design identity frameworks.
· Develop visual storytelling and narratives to clearly communicate product visions and design intent.
· Explore CMF innovations and sustainable design approaches to create new sensory and tactile experiences.
· Collaborate with product, engineering, UI/UX, and research teams to influence product direction through design.
· Monitor competitor activity and draw inspiration from adjacent industries such as fashion, architecture, and digital experiences.
· Master’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
· 8+ years of experience in product or consumer electronics design with a strong focus on research and future visioning.
· Excellent conceptual thinking, sketching, and 3D visualization skills.
· Proficiency in Rhino, KeyShot, Adobe Creative Suite, and AI-supported design tools.
· Strong understanding of materials, CMF, and manufacturing processes.
· Ability to synthesize research into clear design directions and communicate ideas through strong visual storytelling.
· Strategic, curious, and self-driven mindset with strong collaboration skills.
