Join our dynamic team as a Product Design Engineer, where you'll pioneer the development of state-of-the-art hardware systems for wearables and AI devices within New Technology Initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional experts to transition cutting-edge concepts through prototyping and into mass-produced consumer electronics. Your expertise will drive innovations in mechanical engineering, CAD design, and high-volume manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design process for components or systems, ensuring comprehensive understanding from concept to product launch.
  • Develop and refine mechanical solutions collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Create, test, and iterate on prototypes and characterization testing systems.
  • Oversee the entire product development cycle, from initial concept through to final product shipment.
  • Coordinate closely with Asia-based Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth production transitions.
  • Implement advanced technologies and innovative approaches to address complex mechanical engineering challenges with cross-department collaboration.
  • Travel to vendor sites as required, up to 20% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of industry experience in mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning, geometric tolerancing, and 3D/2D CAD.
  • Solid understanding of material properties, including plastics, metal, adhesives, and glass.
  • Strong background in testing and analysis methods, such as FEA, Simulation, and Design of Experiments.
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing techniques, including stamping, machining, and injection molding.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product design and development for handheld and wearable electronics in high-volume manufacturing, with a focus on full system ownership.
  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficiency with NX design software.
  • Experience collaborating with industrial design teams on products with cosmetic surface treatments.
  • Expertise in designing for human factors in consumer electronics.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
