Senior Product Compliance Counsel (Tax)

We are looking for a candidate to take on central legal ownership for the tax-product compliance dimension of inDrive’s business. This role sits at the intersection of product compliance, tax treatment of user transactions, invoicing and fiscalisation — serving as the legal-product partner to the Tax and Product teams.
Important scope boundary. This role does not independently assess tax risk, determine compliance positions, or make tax-related decisions. All substantive tax guidance originates from expert colleagues. The Counsel translates that guidance into requirements for the product teams and drives them through to implementation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Translation of legal tax requirements into product requirements. Create the process and take ownership of the process by which Tax team advice is translated into formal product requirements.
2. Impact of tax requirements on the business. Assess the impact of tax requirements on business models, monetization structures, and user journeys.
3. Impact of business initiatives on tax. Assess the impact of business and product initiatives on tax requirements, invoicing, including monetization mechanics (e.g. invoice type and timing implications, tax-related data sharing).
4. Fiscalisation. Advise on fiscalisation, including legal and operational requirements around receipts, invoices, and transaction records.
5. Tax treatment of incentives and loyalty mechanisms. Advise on the tax compliance treatment of bonuses, incentives, coins, donations, and other promotional or loyalty mechanisms.
6. Coordination with Business Model & Monetization counterpart
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Experience in product compliance, financial regulatory advisory, commercial legal, tax-sensitive product design, or fintech/platform legal work.
- Experience advising on monetization models, payments, incentives, or transaction-related products.
- Demonstrated ability to work on matters involving legal compliance, fiscal controls, financial operations, and cross-functional product governance.
- Experience partnering with Tax and Finance stakeholders on complex product or business-model issues.
- Experience working in global or multi-jurisdictional environments.
- Experience in drafting, reviewing or advising on user-facing terms, disclosures, and operational product frameworks.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity and translating between specialist domains (tax law, product, commercial strategy.
- Willingness to be embedded in product and business design conversations rather than called in at the end.
