About the role:
CBC New Brunswick is looking for a Senior Producer of Distribution and Video. This role leads the creation of innovative, effective live and on-demand video content that draws in and captivates audiences, and drives excellence in video journalism by being a champion and implementer of best practices. This role also drives CBC NB’s audience growth strategy by understanding audience needs and monitoring and leveraging digital performance data and analytics. Additionally, this role supports journalistic excellence in afternoon and evening assignment.
The position requires demonstrated experience leading news teams, which includes shaping and planning video content and production. This position will concentrate on responsiveness - live, breaking coverage - video distribution and audience growth.
This is a temporary one-year position, based onsite in Fredericton.
Key tasks:
The Senior Producer of Distribution and Video is responsible for a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to:
Supporting assignment through the evening.
Driving video content that meets audience needs by being a champion of best practices, creativity and attention to detail.
Optimizing discovery and distribution of our content, with a particular emphasis on the details that immediately capture audience.
Supervising journalists focused on video content.
Monitoring digital performance data and analytics, consistently providing reports and leveraging data to grow audience.
Updating and communicating best practices, ensuring staff training relative to discovery and distribution and audience growth is up to date.
Providing editorial oversight to ensure our content is original, relevant and impactful, elevates a range of voices and perspectives, identifies legal risk and adheres to our Journalistic Standards and Practices.

About You
You are an experienced team leader and know how to plan, direct, and co-ordinate the work of others, as well as manage the performance of team members
You know how to balance a senior leadership role that includes accountability to achieve strategic objectives with the continuous requirement to focus on the details that ensure content is of the highest quality
You have a good track record of quick editorial judgment and making immediate decisions in complex and stressful environments
You are a critical thinker and can sift through complex layers of a story, and provide guidance or seek consultation when needed
You have sound experience and judgment in news, Journalistic Standards and Practices and media law
You have experience in and understanding of all content delivery platforms, and seek collaboration and seamlessness between teams, putting the audience first through a story centric approach
You have demonstrated experience working to produce outstanding content on video platforms and understand the best practices associated with video content.
You follow industry trends and are excited about new video platforms.
You are a promoter of live coverage and thrive during breaking news
You are an exceptional leader, bring a team-first attitude and the ability to motivate and coach teams, encourage creativity and embrace experimentation
You enjoy leading in a collaborative manner that fosters an open environment and encourages input from all team members
