Job Description

Your impact begins here

As Senior Process Scientist, you will help keep the cleaning processes and equipment in Purification running reliably, compliantly and better every day. You step into a key role following the retirement of an experienced specialist, bringing deep process understanding to validation, monitoring and improvement work from day one. Your expertise helps the department deliver treatments for people living with diabetes safely and on time – progress that starts with getting the details right today.

What you’ll bring

You don’t need a background in cleaning to succeed here. What matters most is deep process understanding from a relevant production environment – we will train you in the cleaning-specific aspects.

We expect you to bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably a master’s, in engineering, chemistry, biotechnology or another relevant technical or scientific field.
  • Around 8–10 years of relevant experience from pharmaceutical or similar regulated production, for example within process support, purification or other production and process work.
  • Deep process understanding, ideally combined with technical knowledge of process equipment.
  • Solid experience working under GxP, including validation.
  • A data-analytical, detail-oriented and systematic way of working, including structured problem-solving.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and navigate disagreement respectfully.
  • Maturity, self-awareness and the ability to stay calm and solution-oriented when situations become complex or priorities change quickly.
  • Fluent English.

Useful, but not essential:

  • Experience with cleaning processes and cleaning validation.
  • Familiarity with the SVR concept.
  • Danish language skills, or a willingness to learn, as some stakeholders primarily communicate in Danish.
  • Interest in new technologies, as we move towards Industry 4.0.

What you’ll do

Together with the team, you will be responsible for cleaning validation and monitoring of the equipment in the Purification Department. You will be a go-to expert colleagues rely on to keep cleaning processes robust and compliant, and to improve them where it counts.

  • Support cleaning processes and equipment day to day, ensuring smooth and reliable operation.
  • Maintain, upgrade and validate cleaning processes, including documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor and analyse data, handle deviations and solve problems systematically so root causes are eliminated, not just managed.
  • Implement relevant regulatory requirements and take the actions needed to ensure continuous compliance with authority expectations.
  • Drive equipment improvements and optimisation projects, using LEAN principles and a strong quality mindset.
  • Contribute to product changeovers and, over time, support cleaning colleagues across production facilities.

Who you’ll work with

You will join the Cleaning Support team in the Purification Department at Novo Nordisk Kalundborg. The department of approximately 210 people is responsible for the entire purification process, including cleaning validation and monitoring, for several products for people living with diabetes. You will report to Associate Manager Søren Møller Olsen.

You will work closely with support functions and departments such as QA and maintenance, where clear dialogue and shared quality standards help decisions move forward. As part of Manufacturing I (M1), purification teams collaborate across multiple production facilities, giving you a broad network of process and cleaning experts. Here, face-to-face dialogue and honest, respectful challenge help the team solve problems at pace.

What you can expect here

You will be trusted as an expert, with the room to make your voice heard and shape how cleaning is validated, monitored and improved. Your work directly supports compliant, reliable production, and you will be expected to raise the bar – never compromising on patient safety or quality, while keeping standards practical and focused on results.

Working across facilities in M1 and with colleagues in QA and maintenance, you can broaden your process perspective and build new skills on the job, including in new technologies as production moves towards Industry 4.0.
