About the Role

This is a highly respected technical leadership role within Origin's Asset Governance & Assurance team, focused on strengthening process safety, technical risk and governance across a diverse generation portfolio. You'll operate at the centre of operations, engineering and maintenance - providing oversight, guidance and assurance that critical risks are understood, controlled and continuously improved.

This is a business-critical role with visibility across senior leaders, where you'll strengthen process safety through influence and technical expertise. You'll work closely with site teams, engineers and senior stakeholders to embed strong safety practices, support change management and ensure safety critical controls are effective.

A key part of the role is facilitating technical risk assessments and governance forums, while helping evolve process safety evolves as the business transitions across assets and technologies. You'll also work across a diverse asset base - from coal to hydro and batteries - supporting both current operations and the future energy portfolio.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and facilitate technical risk assessment including HAZOP, LOPA and Bowtie studies and ensure risks are managed so far as reasonably practicable (SFARP)
  • Provide governance and assurance across process safety systems and safety critical controls
  • Support change management (MoC) process
  • Deliver training, coaching and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to identify and mitigate risks
  • Support audits, regulatory engagement and governance reporting

About You

You are an experienced and capable engineer with process safety experience and the ability to apply sound judgement in operational environments. You bring integrity, attention to detail and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

You are comfortable working across both governance and hands-on technical problem solving. Whether facilitating a risk workshop, supporting an audit or improving systems and processess, you bring a pragmatic, soutions-focused approach and a genuine committment to safety.

You enjoy working in a collaborative, one-team environment and are motivated by the opportunity to influence change at scale - improving systems, strengthening risk management and contributing to better outcomes across a national asset base.

You will bring:

  • Chartered Engineer status with a background in process or chemical engineering
  • Experience in process safety in energy, resources or similiar industries
  • Experience facilitating technical risk management (e.g. HAZOP, LOPA, Bowtie) and facilitating workshops
  • Well developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • A continuous improvement miindeset, with the ability to simplify and enhance processes
