Focus on the development, optimization and standardization of optical surface bonding process for extended reality smart glasses assemblies. Responsible for end-to-end bonding process solutions, including but limited to adhesive material selection, process development, fixture design and quality control. Deliver high optical performance, e.g. transmission, uniformity, reliability, and manufacturing ready bonded optical modules such as prescription lens and waveguides to support competitive XR products development.
1. Optical Bonding Process Development and Optimization
a. Develop optical surface bonding process for XR smart glasses assemblies such as prescription (Rx) lens with waveguides or display components.
b. Define end-to-end process covering adhesive dispensing, gap control, component alignment, bonding and curing control.
c. Continuously optimize process capability and stability based on product or manufacturing requirements.
2. Bonding Technique Assessment and Implementation
a. Assess and identify suitable bonding techniques (e.g. LOCA/OCR liquid bonding, OCA dry-film lamination) for different product architectures
b. Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessment and process comparison for various bonding techniques.
3 Material and Equipment Selection
a. Lead screening, evaluation and selection process for bonding materials such as LOCA/OCR, OCA and UV curable adhesives based on product optical and reliability requirements.
b. Define adhesive preparation method, volume/flow control techniques and curing conditions (UV, thermal etc.).
c. Specify bonding fixtures, alignment tools and equipment for support accurate and scalable production
4. Quality Metrics Definition and Inspection Methodology
a. Define success criteria and key quality metrics for optical bonding process, such as metrics related to transmission, reflection, interface uniformity, bubble control, reliability.
b. Build inspection methodologies for optical inspection and reliability testing.
5. Documentation
a. Draft and maintain technical documents including process specification, test report, working instruction (WI) and standard operating procedures (SOP.
b. Create standardized process guidelines and reusable knowledge database for optical bonding techniques.
c. Ensure compliance with internal R&D documentation standards.
