Job Description

Staff designated at Dickinson Wright PLLC (“the Firm”) as the Senior Pricing Analyst supports the firm’s pricing initiatives by delivering analytical insights and pricing solutions to Attorneys and Clients as assigned on a full-time basis unless otherwise arranged with the Firm. Such services may include providing administrative support to Attorneys and Clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities of staff designated as Senior Pricing Analyst at the Firm include but are not limited to:

  1. Prepare pricing analyses and fee structures for a range of engagements, including alternative fee arrangements (AFAs) through modeling of rates and discounts, realization, leverage and margin assumptions
  2. Analyze historical timekeeper and matter data to support pricing recommendations
  3. Conduct initial pricing and RFP information-gathering sessions with attorneys to understand matter scope, assumptions, staffing models, and other requirements
  4. Support responses to RFPs and ad-hoc pitches by translating attorney input into clear and appropriate pricing models and budget structures, including AFA development.
  5. Prepare partner-facing summaries and materials for review by the Senior Pricing Manager and/or Director of Pricing
  6. Review and interpret client Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs), identifying pricing requirements. Flag associated risks or constraints and escalate to team leadership as appropriate
  7. Assist with annual rate setting and client-specific rate analyses under the guidance of team leadership, including gathering of industry benchmarking and competitive intelligence data. Review key client agreements, share actionable recommendations with members to improve, and coordinate update of financial systems
  8. Contribute to the refinement or pricing templates, tools, and documentation
  9. Provide guidance, technical review, and informal mentorship to Pricing Analysts including reviewing analyses and sharing best practices
  10. Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by the Senior Manager of Pricing, Director of Pricing and Matter Analytics and/or the Vice-President Operations and Data Strategy to improve pricing efficiency, business process and resources.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities Required:

Senior Pricing Analyst must have:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or similar required
  2. 3-6 years of pricing, financial analysis, or related experience; legal industry or other professional services experience strongly preferred
  3. Strong Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis; Power BI reporting experience a plus.
  4. Familiarity with legal financial systems (e.g. Elite 3E, Aderant or similar) a plus
  5. Clear communicator able to confidently lead structured conversations at all levels within an organization; Able to build and maintain effective relationships, while knowing when to escalate issues.
  6. Self-motivated individual able to independently manage multiple requests, assess priorities and achieve solutions in accordance with deadlines.
  7. Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
  8. Advanced organizational skills, including the ability to manage a high volume of work with accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent proofreading skills.

Working Conditions:

Normal law office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, temperature.

Hybrid position – 2 days/week in office. Applicants should reside within driving distance of a Dickinson Wright location.

Travel requirement: approximately 10% travel to Dickinson Wright offices
