UKI Casualty Senior Pricing Actuary

CHUBB Europe P&C is one of four main divisions of CHUBB European Group (CEG). This is a highly visible actuarial pricing role responsible for a book of c.$700m gross written premium, leading the effort of partnering UK and Ireland Casualty underwriters and providing technical expertise to the Head of UKI Casualty in executing key priorities and strategic projects.

Based in our London office and reporting to the Europe Casualty Pricing Manager, you will play a key role in team leadership. This position offers the opportunity to manage one direct report while coordinating the workflow for our shared analyst team in India.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performance Management and Monitoring: Partner with underwriters in assessing portfolio performance and formulating strategies to improve/ optimise underwriting performance. Lead the effort in monitoring and communicating key portfolio trends/ statistics/ insights to underwriters and senior management, including but not limited to: The annual profitability study, quarterly business performance reviews, performance dashboard updates, renewal rate change and adequacy monitoring, inflation impact and general analytical support.
• Case Pricing: Develop and maintain experience rating models. Support underwriting decisions and referrals with pricing of individual large accounts/ facilities/ binders etc.
• Exposure Rating Models: Regularly calibrate and input into design of exposure rating models in conjunction with underwriting teams and wider (Chubb Overseas General) actuarial group.
• Planning/ Forecasting: Partner with the Underwriting Heads, and the Finance and Planning teams in formulating yearly and longer-term strategic plans and forecasts.
• Underwriting Risk: Lead the parameterisation of underwriting risk distributions for UKI Casualty, for the purpose of the Chubb Global Capital Model.
• Reinsurance: Where appropriate, support reinsurance submissions and decisions.
• Wider Actuarial Projects: Proactively engage with the wider Actuarial and Analytics communities in knowledge sharing/ common projects/ efficiency and automation.
• Management: The role will involve management responsibility for 1 onshore analyst and indirect workflow management of a shared pool of interns and offshore analysts.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Highly motivated self-starter who is able to drive, prioritise, manage and execute multiple projects to completion in a fast-paced environment.
• Great team leader and player who is able to deal with different professional backgrounds and interested to invest time in team growth.
• Strong stakeholder management ability.
• Proven technical expertise in specialty case pricing, rating tool developments and portfolio management activities.
• Loss modelling and statistical analysis skills.
• Commercial insurance and long-tail specialty risk knowledge.
• Strong communicator who can articulate complex messages to a broad range of audiences in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and written. Proficiency in English required.
• Strong systems / software/ data management skills, and/or ability to learn new software on own initiative. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and at least two of the following software: R, SQL, Python, ResQ, Radar, VBA, Qlik, PowerQuery, Databricks.
• Ability to adopt AI and integrate into current processes to improve quality, breadth and efficiency.
• Professional actuarial qualification (e.g. Fellow of IFoA) with relevant experience.
