Senior Press Officer – George Brand

Do you have a strong background in consumer PR and are looking for an exciting opportunity to join the PR team for one of Britain’s best loved clothing brands?

This role focuses on the development and execution of Asda consumer PR plan – effectively communicating key launches of Asda’s products and services that demonstrate our commitment to quality products and meeting the needs of our customers. This will be achieved through exciting, integrated PR campaigns that complement or enhance our total marketing communications plans, as well as an ‘always on’ press office to support our trade plan.

The role, reporting to the Head of George PR, is responsible for generating proactive, positive media coverage across a variety of media communications channels. The role requires a passion for food and drink quality and innovation and the ability to build strong relationships with key contacts across the business to tell the Asda product story.

Key responsibilities

· Support the Head of PR in developing and implementing a calendar of PR activities that successfully communicate key messages around George at Asda’s products and services in earned media, and in line with Asda’s overall reputation and values.

· Support with production and staging of press events for key media.

· Closely involved in the day-to-day management of our PR agency to ensure activity is clearly briefed, developed and executed – in line with broader customer comms timelines and plans.

· Identify new and innovative ways of landing or measuring PR campaigns and stories – taking the opportunity to push boundaries and challenge thinking.

· Responsible for holding excellent relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure awareness of new products or services.

· Have a clear understanding of how social influencers can complement PR activity – identifying the right brand ambassadors for campaigns.

· From time to time, provide on call services for the PR team and wider business.

Essential skills and experience

· Minimum 3 years PR experience in consumer PR – ideally with experience in retail/food and drink.

· Knowledge of the media landscape.

· Ability to develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders.

· Confident in identifying, developing and implementing creative PR stories and campaigns that deliver impactful results.
