Job Description

Liquid Personnel is seeking an experienced and resilient Senior Practitioner to join its client' Children with Disabilities team in Hereford. As the council continues its Restorative Journey of Improvement, you will play a pivotal role in delivering consistent, relationship-based practice for children with complex needs and their families.

What will your responsibilities be?

In this role, you will,

  • Team Supervision: Provide professional support and specific supervisory responsibility for Social Workers and other staff within the Directorate and partner agencies.
  • Full-Journey Caseload: Manage a complex caseload that follows the child’s entire journey, including assessment work, child protection, and court work.
  • Specialist Assessments: Complete specialist assessments, including Short Break assessments, ensuring that the unique needs of children with disabilities are identified and met.
  • Relationship-Based Practice: Act as a lead professional to ensure consistency for families, fostering long-term, trust-based relationships.
  • Service Improvement: Contribute actively to the local authority’s improvement journey, helping to shape a service that delivers the best possible outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Reporting: Produce high-quality, analytical reports for court and statutory reviews.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Social Work England registration and a recognized qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
  • Experience Requirement: A minimum of 3 years of post-qualified experience within statutory social care.
  • CWD Expertise: Significant experience working with children with disabilities, including knowledge of the specific legislative frameworks involved.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to supervise staff and provide professional guidance to a multi-agency network.
  • Analytical Skills: Honed skills in assessment and the ability to manage high-complexity cases independently.

Working Pattern & Benefits:

  • Work Pattern: Flexible hybrid arrangements to be agreed upon with management.
  • Business Mileage: Reimbursed at 45p per mile.
  • Accommodation Allowance: Up to £150 per week available for candidates commuting from outside the local area.
  • Office Base: Plough Lane, Hereford, HR4 0LE.
