The opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Power BI Analyst to join Downer’s Energy & Utilities business, partnering closely with Finance, Operational and Project stakeholders to deliver meaningful insights that drive commercial and operational performance.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role sits at the intersection of analytics, finance and business strategy, transforming complex operational and financial data into intuitive dashboards, executive-ready reporting and actionable business insights.

You will play a key role in uplifting reporting capability across the business through advanced Power BI development, data modelling, data quality management and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical capability with stakeholder engagement and storytelling to influence business outcomes across large-scale infrastructure and utility operations. Working within a collaborative and high-performing environment, you will contribute to strategic decision-making while helping drive innovation, process optimisation and data governance across the Energy & Utilities business.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and visualisations that support operational and financial decision-making.
• Translate complex datasets into clear, executive-ready insights and storytelling outputs.
• Lead data cleansing, validation and transformation activities to improve data accuracy, consistency and usability.
• Develop reporting solutions to support project performance, workforce utilisation, cost analysis and commercial outcomes.

• Partner with Finance, Operational and Project stakeholders to deliver meaningful analytics solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we’re looking for

• Extensive experience in Power BI reporting, dashboard development and data modelling.
• Strong technical capability across Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Excel and large-scale data environments.
• Experience working with complex operational, financial or project datasets.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to present insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Commercially minded with strong analytical, problem-solving and continuous improvement capability.
