The Team:

The Team within the Department of Health Tasmania provides strategic, evidence‑based policy advice to support the delivery of high‑quality health services and improved health outcomes for Tasmanians. Working collaboratively across government and with key stakeholders, the team contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of health policies, programs, and legislative initiatives. As a Senior Policy Officer, the role supports informed decision‑making through high‑level analysis, clear briefing materials, and pragmatic policy solutions aligned with Tasmanian Government priorities.

The Role:

The Senior Policy Officer develops, plans and implements System Management and Reform programs and policy initiatives by:

• Analysing data and using, assessing and synthesising evidence from multiple sources.
• Using evidence to develop and evaluate policy and planning options to improve health and health care.
• Translating this evidence into actions for implementation by producing analytical reports, QTB and briefing papers through System Management and Reform (SMR).
• Developing new projects within the broad policy framework for System Management and Reform (SMR).

You will need to:

• Provide high level specialist advice through the relevant Manager to the Director - Monitoring Reporting and Analysis (MRA) on health and health care planning and policy initiatives.
• Develop policies and programs to support the implementation and coordination of the Unit’s strategic initiatives and activities.
• Develop and execute data analysis and evidence synthesis projects as required to support key Acute Strategy activities and initiatives.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $107,899 to $122,292 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
