As CARE Platform Operations Engineer at ILIAS, you work where infrastructure, applications, releases and customer service operations meet. You resolve technical challenges, support releases, contribute to structural improvements and strengthen customer service environments through engineering expertise, automation and proactive problem-solving.

You look beyond the immediate fix. By recognizing patterns, reducing recurring work, improving operational standards and guiding technical decisions, you help move support from reactive problem-solving toward a more structured and predictable way of working.

Your Mission

What You Will Do

• Handle technical escalations, including critical incidents, recurring problems and ILIAS platform defects that require careful investigation, with specialist input available for the most complex cases.
• Analyze root causes across infrastructure, applications, databases, cloud, security and network layers, and translate findings into clear actions that prevent issues from returning.
• Improve service reliability by identifying technical debt, analyzing incident trends, defining preventive improvements and supporting disaster recovery validation and resilience testing.
• Validate and execute complex releases, changes and implementation activities, including CAB support, deployment process improvements and release-related risk reduction through automation and standardization.
• Make support more efficient by improving automation, monitoring, observability, operational tooling and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Work with Operations, Product Engineering, Support, Security, customers and technology partners during major incidents, technical customer reviews, onboarding, transition projects and key customer initiatives, including occasional travel to support ILIAS platform implementations at customer locations. You will work with a high degree of independence, with expert technical sparring and guidance available for complex escalations where needed.

What You Bring

• Strong experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud operations and platform engineering, with confidence working across Windows, Linux, Microsoft Azure, networking, security and identity and access management.
• A solid understanding of databases, application servers such as WebLogic or Tomcat, containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker, and modern monitoring or observability practices.
• Experience with automation and infrastructure as code, for example PowerShell, Python, Ansible or Terraform.
• Operational maturity in ITIL-based incident, problem, change, release and service improvement processes, with awareness of OPSSEC principles.
• A strong customer mindset: you understand the impact technical issues can have on users and service continuity, and you communicate clearly when situations are complex or urgent.
• A continuous improvement mindset, the ability to grow through hands-on expertise, and the communication skills to translate complex technical issues into clear actions and outcomes.
